"Hello, welcome to the ice cream shack. How may I help you?" I ask the customer standing in front of the counter.
The face of the customer was familiar, but I just couldn't put a name to the face. I'm sure we have met before.
"Hi, Ava isn't it?" The guy asks.
"Yes that's me, do I know you?"
"Oh I thought you looked familiar. Such a small world isn't it. I'm Jason.." He says.
Jason...
Jason....
Now where have I heard that name before.
"... We met last summer when you first arrived in this town. I never thought that you'd stay around for so long."
Oh that's right, Jason was a guy that gave me a place to stay for a few nights while I was trying to get some work and a flat. Because of him, I'm the proud owner of a two bedroom flat. The second room I use for my art and music. Mainly art however, because I've managed to sell a few pieces which has given me some extra money for the rent and bills.
"I remember you now haha, long time no see huh? Where have you been?"
"I've actually been off in New York doing a few shoots, but ended up staying there for a bit longer. How was your Christmas?"
"It was great, I managed to get the Christmas Day shift here at the ice cream shack, which was great. I met a lot of the locals and luckily they have accepted me into the town."
The Ice Cream Shack is a place I've been working at since I first arrived in town. Jason helped me get the job. It's quite a cool little place because in the summer it serves ice creams, but in the winter it serves hot foods, and in the seasons in between it serves both. It is also the only place opened every day of the year, including 4th July. We only close for half of the day that day, to see the parade. And then afterwards lots of people come and feast here as all food is half price, same with on Christmas Day, and a few other celebrations.
That is why it is the most loved food shop in town.
"That would have been amazing. Hey look, I'm just wondering if you have a couch or something that I can crash on for the night. The renters of my home are still cleaning up the place so I have no where to stay tonight. " Jason asks.
"Yea that's no problem. A few weeks ago I purchased a sofa with a pull out bed, for the few visitors I get" I laugh slightly.
"Sweet as, thank you so much. Oh and can I get some hot chips? You still sell them right?"
"Yea we do. Right up till the start of July is when we sell them till."
"Cool, so a scoop of chips, with chicken salt?"
