It was getting colder each day. Tomorrow is Halloween and I had no plans yet. What we usually do was stay at home together or visit our grandparents. That was the time when Patrick goes home with us. When I ran into Mrs. McGregor’s house, she invited me to the first day of thanksgiving. Their village holds an annual event for Thanksgiving. I cannot decline for she really pleaded thinking that I remind her of Kelly.

I can’t wait to go off from school. I’ve had terrible life at school and I just want to take a break.

The next day, I went to their neighborhood. I even saw Lindy around the face paint booth.

“Hey Lindy!”

“Kyra! It’s great to see you! What brought you here?”

“Mrs. McGregor invited me for lunch. That looks cool, put some on my face!”

“Sure. Let’s make you a fairy.”

After few minutes of putting glittery stuffs, I was as good as a fairy.

“Whoa! You’re really serious about fairy makeup huh? I would have picked a zombie, though.”

“Goodness, you look pretty! Aren’t you going to change to your costume?”

“But I don’t have one. I’m too old for those.”

“So you think I’m too old to wear this witch costume?”

“No. That’s not what I meant. I mean. I really don’t-“

“Oh shut up. Come to my house, I still have my fairy costume!”

“No, wait. This is crazy-“

Lindy dragged me to her home and turned me to a fairy with her magical hands. Ok, I have to admit, it was beautiful. I was cute enough to be a cosplayer. She curled my hair, dressed me with a cute sparkly tutu and blouse. What was left on ‘Kyra’s’ identity was my sneakers. We could barely breathe by laughing about it.

After, she went back to her booth while I went to the long table of food. I was drooling just by staring at those beautifully baked muffins and broiled chicken. Then I noticed that there was only one piece left for the apple pie. While I was about to grab it, someone was also about to get it.

“Oh sorry sir, perhaps you should take it.”

“No, miss, I think it’s yours.”

Then when I looked at the person, it was a guy- a man wearing a prince costume from the medieval age.

“Caleb?”

“Excuse me? Tinkerbell, do I know you?”

“You must not have recognized me. Well, I got to go, thanks for this pie.”

He grabbed my arm like he was about to shake me. He was really curious about who I am. Did I transform that much that he wouldn’t know me?

“Who are you? You’re not one of Diana’s friends, are you?”

“Let go!”

“Sorry. My manners. Would you like to go for a ride with me?”

He was pointing at the little caterpillar roller coaster.

“Uh… no? Where are your horses? Maybe you could take me to your castle.” It’s fun to tease people when they don’t know who you are.

“Where is your wand? I wish for a princess. Oh wait, you had granted it already. Hi there, your highness!”

“Very funny.” I rolled my eyes. I turned my back and was about to go somewhere far so I could escape from him.

“Wait!” Caleb shouted. “Kyra?”

I was in panic that I looked at him. It was a wrong move. He should not know it was me.

“I hate you.”

“Haha! I knew it. What brought you here?” Then Caleb came running towards me and dragged me to the horror train ride.

“You know, I have other things to do so I should really go.” I hesitated. I know we’re going to the friends stage but that doesn’t mean I’ll go with him alone in there. In that dark, narrow place.

“No. Don’t tell me you’re scared of this.” He smirked, like an evil laugh.

“Fine. Just this one.”

Then we went inside. Of course, what was inside wasn’t as scary as it seems to me. However, I found Caleb pale enough to prove he was scared.

“You’re so pale. Should we get out while there’s still time.”

“Shut up,” He started to feel comfortable with the train. “What brought you here?”

“Mrs. McGregor invited me for lunch.”

“Then, come to my place for dinner.”

“Yeah, it’s as if I’m welcome to be there.”

At the end of ride, a headless man surprised us. I mean, Caleb. I can’t forget his trembling face as he clings to me. I laughed heavily to make him feel he’s a coward.

“Chicken!” Then I checked my watch. It was already lunch time. I would be late if I won’t go to the McGregor’s by now. “I have to go. Bye!”

“You’re going already?!”

“Caleb!” Hilary waved at her brother while I was bidding goodbye to Caleb.

“Take me to the coaster. Now.” They looked like little innocent siblings together.

“Oh come on~ I think you need to get a boyfriend to take you there from now on,” Before they left, Caleb, waved at me. “See you around!”

I was a bit attached by looking at them that when I turned around, I bumped into a brown-eyed curly blonde man wearing a medieval warrior costume. Then, the icecream he was holding splattered on my blouse.

“Oh no!” I quickly grabbed my hanky to wipe the chocolate ice-cream.

“Sorry. I didn’t mean to-“

“No, it’s my fault. I didn’t see you coming. Sorry about your ice-cream, mister.” I ran away before Lindy sees her costume, for she might just freak out.

The day passed by quickly, like a blink of an eye. These days turn into more days until the short vacation was over. The thought of going back to the school I’ve messed with gives me goose bumps. Nonetheless, I have to face reality. And so, we all went back to studying.
