Standing outside my girlfriend's bedroom, I kneel and wait for her to wake up; dressed in my finest clothing, neat combed hairdo all brushed and nice. I prepare my speech while holding a ring, my grandma's; I know she'll say yes, we've always been so close to each other, doubt didn't even crossed my mind.

As she opens her door and lays her sight on me, she lets out a piercing scream! Her eyes are all red and baggy, her make up is ruined and all over her cheeks. She is crying and baubling, and I can't make out any word. "Why do you cry my darling?" I said, "Didn't you love me as much as I love you?".

Between sobs and tears, her weakened voice rises, "please go, don't haunt me, I am feeling sick". I'm lost at words, don't know what to think, "Please honey, you're breaking my heart, is there another, is that?" is all I manage to say, but her crying grows and I'm left befouled.

"If I've hurt you or failed you, my darling, please give me a chance! I'll fix it beloved, it all be alright!" This I begged to her, hoping it'll change her mind. "This can't be fixed, you know it too much! I cannot marry, you're a dead man!"; her words stunned me and left me silent, what did she meant with such hurtful words?

"You make no sense beloved, don't I here stand?" This made her shudder, her composture lost; "Don't call me liar!" she screamed, "your mother just called an hour ago, said they found you back on the road! The rain was too heavy, the wind was too strong; you lost your bearings, and never got them back! The car was too broken, and so were you!"

With this heavy words, she closed the door in my face, retreating to her room. I was dumbstruck, unable to cope; thus I despaired, shouting and shouting at the top of my lungs; "I'm still alive, look at me, I'm still alive!'. For too long I screamed, "I am not dead, how can't you see? I came here whole, I scream and I knock, how can't I be truly alive!" as I pounded her door. But over my pleas, a most dreadful noise arose, a mighty explosion: the mark of a gunshot. Soon I was silent, fearing the worst, did I drove her to... that?. My fears subsided when she opened the door, although soon I noticed something was wrong.

Her clothes were brighter somehow, and her eyes had cleared from that painful red; her face was clean, not bags on her eyelids anymore. I rushed past her, knowing somehow what had occurred; in her private bathroom she lied, a crimson river flowing freely from her head, although hardly could that be called a head anymore; a pistol sadly gripped in her hand. She walked beside me, not saying a word and taking my hand; "If so much you love me, I'll be your wife... not even death, will do us apart."
