Chapter 6: Competition.

Melissa's POV

Lumipas ang isang araw mula nung nagpaalam ako sa laptop ko, Ay d pala ako nag paalam kasi papaayos daw ni Joshua ung laptop ko. Aba dapat lang siya ang nakasira ng laptop ko eh.

Nandito ako ngayon sa room namin and kasalukuyang nag klaklase. Ang subject is isa sa mga major namin and guess who is our instructor: si sir Fred.

"...and that covers the basic syntax of visual basic programming language. Any questions?" Si sir fred habang nakatingin samin ma para bang kakainin kami ng buhay.

"None sir." Kami yan well maliban kay Joshua na kasalukuyang nag lalaro sa laptop nya. Tignan mo tong lalakeng to porket matalino sya ganyan na. Pero bakit parang ok lang kay sir fred and other teachers na ganto sya? Porket matalino may ganung privilege na sya? Gahhhd ay heyt drags.

"Good. I hope na nakinig kayo coz we still have 30 minutes left and magkakaron tayo ng maliit na competition. Don't worry dalawang tao lng naman and actually hope na kayo ang mabunot dahil malaking dagdag grade ang bibigay ko. As I call your name please come in front and take a sit in front of one of the computers that I had set up."

Wala kaming nasagot dahil una nagulat kami and pangalawa katakot si sir.

Kinuha ni sir fred ang index card nya mand sinimulan na nyang ishuffle. Sheemaaayy sana d ako ang mabunot

Sir Fred's POV

Hmm as usual my student's looked tense whenever I pick up their index card.Everyone except for HIM.

Anyway hello guys I am Fredrick Ramos. Guess what is my relationship to Mr. Monteverde? He is my 2nd cousin and my closest cousin. Surprised? Well I hope not coz there will be more surprises sooner or later.

Speaking of which. Mukang sya ang nabunot ko.

"Mr. Monteverde. Please take the left side computer." I said as I reshuffled the cards.

"Ms. Valdez. Please take the right side computer." Hindi chance ung pagbunot ko kay Ms. Valdez. I just made a lil sleight of hand para makuha siya. Mukang wala naman nakakita maliban kay Joshua. Ansama nang tingin sakin hahahaha.

Some of you might be wondering why do I make pairs in my class and specifically why did I make the two of them pairs. First I believe that in the real world in programming, most of them won't be working alone but will work in groups or pairs sometimes. No man is an island pagdating sa programming in real life. So pairing them when they are still young will help them be more prepared for the future.

To answer the second one, Joshua is a genius, a prodigy without a doubt. And pairing him with someone who is not but at the same is almost at the standing as him might create a good reaction, a synergy. He will help his partner improve by seeing him as a challenge and vice versa. Because all lesson comes from anyone regardless of their intellectual capability. So I need someone who can take a mountain of a challenge. And that is Ms. Valdez. Someone who can smile in face of a challenge bigger than her. And someone who will take him by surprise sooner or later

"So here is the instruction. You will both be given a same program to make and whoever finish it faster or whoever makes more progress will be the winner. You can use anything you have learned in AND out of the class. We are a bit short on time so start as soon as you have finished reading what you will do in the notepad minimized there. Any questions? None? Good. Now start!"

Joshua's POV

One of fred's scheme again *sigh.. im getting tired of it.

I looked at barbarian girl as she start coding. Hmmmm may galing din naman pala sya. Well better face her head on or it will be an insult to her. I don't wanna offend anybody that's why I always face them with my full force when it comes to competition.

I stared and read the instructions or should I say the simple and broad instruction. Here's what it says

"Make a simple calculator."

Easy right? But knowing fred he will have other things on mind. He always give problems that are simple at first but when you are a student of him, you must think broadly and know every possibilities specially about errors. Like what if the user of the calculator typed an alphabet accidentally or the user entered a decimal point twice? Have a broad mind and perspective when it comes to programming. Thats what he teach to his students.

Nalibang ako kakaisip about his education when I realized na nangangalahati na ng pag gawa si meli ng calculator nya. Tapos na sya sa design and interface and nakaumpisa na sya mag code. I better pick up the pace.

Melissa's POV

Nag cocode na ako and patapos na ako when suddenly nakita ko si mokong na mag click and drag and design ng gawa nya. Shiz mukang hindi lng for show ang sinasabi nila na matalino talaga tong lokong to.. ang bilis nga gumawa and efficient.... and kinda cool..

Hayst oo na aamin na ako cool talaga tong mokong na to pero mokong pa din sya at inis pa din ako sa kanya.

Nakakainis siya dahil kahit ang galing niya sa mga bagay na ganto parang effortless siya at parang bored pa siya samantalang ako kailangan kong magpuyat at mag todo focus para lang maging ganto kagaling. Gusto kong basagin muka niya na ganyan ang expression damn.

Unting code na lang plus debug ng errors- I can do this matatalo k----

"And we have a winner. Hands down Ms. Valdez sorry but Mr. Monteverde won."

What the actual fck?? Huli kong tingin kakatapos niya pa lang sa design ah ano nangyari ughh nakakainis siya.

Tumingin siya sakin habang nakangirit na para bang sinasabing "better luck next time barbarian girl" while pabalik kami ng mga upuan namin. Damn him nakakainis siyaa.

"Nice try meli but what did I say before? Too fast for you? Or was it faster than you? Haha whichever you get my point. Nice fight."

"Tssss eenglish english ka jan humanda ka next time I'll get better than you."

"Hahaha I'll be waiting... Melissa."

Tinawag niya ako sa pangalan ko? Hindi na barbarian girl or something? Do this guy can be ni--

"So I guess that is 3 - 0 barbarian girl. 3 for me and 0 for you since the classes started hahahahaha loser."

Jabzkasnkabzkakansksskznzns de puto kutsinta binabawi ko na mokong pa din tong kohyah na to ugghhhhhh.

"Hoy and 3-0 at kailan nangyari un??"

"Hmmm first nung nagmamadali ka dahil late ka na kay fred. Second when you tried to punch me several times but I'll count that as one haha then third.... now."

"Whatever. I'll defeat you next time."

"Ok class that concludes our day dismissed."

And tumayo na kami at naglakad palabas ng classroom.

Watch your back mokong. Melissa Valdez will get her revenge.
