‘TEOTRO’, the words printed across the building. David giggled as Gabriela muttered something into his ear. I looked at them, at how Gabriela was just so natural with David. The baby also seemed to be attached to her as well. It isn’t surprising; Gabriela is just a wonderful person. No way can you not get along with her. Then there must be something wrong with them if so.
So… the fact that she doesn’t get along with me… does that mean something was wrong with me?
“So, are you guys ready to watch this movie?” I asked cheerfully as I walked towards them, the tickets in my hand. David nodded eagerly.
“Yes!” David cheered, pumping his fists in the air. Both Gabriela and I chuckled simultaneously. Our heads snapped up in sync as we stared at each other. Gabriela uncomfortably looked away.
At the sight of her biting her lips (which made the lips even more delectable, which isn’t at all fair), my heart seemed to falter a bit. I didn’t like that she wasn’t comfortable around me. It made me feel like I’m a failure, like I’ve disappointed her, and hell is that the worst feeling in the world. But, God, when she smiled… it’s like the whole wide world just suddenly lit up. And when she laughed, it was like the voice of singing angels.
Was that what Leroy meant?
Together we walked into the building. We bought some popcorn (caramel for me and buttered for Gabri) and a large Sprite for all three to share as well as a packet of sour gummy worms (for David). We then went into the theatre room. Gabriela wanted to use the washroom so when the advertisements began playing she left with the purse, but not before pinkie-promising David to be back soon.
When the begin credits rolled, David suddenly frowned and tugged on my shirt beside me. I leaned towards him questioningly.
“What is it, filho?” I asked softly, not wanting to bother anyone in the room. He was staring at someone, peeping over my shoulder but he then turned back to face me, an uneasy look on his face
“Papai,” He trailed off before hugging himself, as if trying to protect himself from something, but he kept on peeking over my shoulders once more. Curious, I turned around and all the breath left my throat.
“Bru-Bruna?”

“I’m going to the ladies’, kay?” I murmured softly to Neymar and David as I stood up, holding my purse with me. Neymar was stuffing as many caramel popcorns he could in his mouth whereas David giggled quietly. What I said made both of them look up.
“Will you come back soon?” David questioned in his adorable voice as he tilted his head to one side, a small pout on his lips. I grinned at his cuteness.
“Yes, I promise,” I said. David still pouted, feeling doubtful about my statement. He lifted up his small hand and jutted out his pinkie.
“You pinkie promise?” he asked. I chuckled and hooked my pinkie with his and we touched thumbs.
“Pinkie promise,” I said, smiling, “I cross my heart.” David nodded before turning back to eat his gummy worms. I turned around, about to walk away but a warm hand suddenly snaked around my wrist.
“D-don’t go missing okay?” Neymar grabbed my hand before I could go. Sparks jolted from where his warm hand touched my skin. I let out an inaudible sound of shock at the back of my throat when I felt the shivers running up my spine, coming from his simple touch. Did he feel the same way?
