I walked into Starbucks and looked around.
I saw Mike's smiling face and I smiled, making my way over to his table.
"Hey Mike!" I said with a smile as I hugged him.
"Hey! I got your drink." He said, sitting down and handing me my drink.
"Thanks. It's good to see you." I said, sitting back in my chair, sipping my drink.
"Yeah, same here. How you been? How are things with Brian?" He asked.
I couldn't help but smile at the mention of his name.
"Things are so great! Everything has gotten so much better. He treats me like a queen. I'm getting too spoiled." I said with a laugh.
"Well, you deserve it." Mike said. I smiled.
"Thanks. Now that's enough about me. What have you been up to in the month I haven't seen you?" I asked excitedly.
"Looking for a good paying job. That's pretty much it." He said.
"Nice. Where are you working at?" I asked, interested.
"At a popular bar here in town." Mike said with a smile.
"That is so cool. I've always wanted to work at a bar." I squealed.
"I could try and see if there's any job openings." He offered.
"That would be great! I want to contribute instead of spending all of Brian's money." I said.
"The guys supposed to pay for the girls stuff." Mike said.
"Not this girl. I like helping. Brian worked hard for that money too." I said.
Mike nodded.
"You're hard headed." Mike said with a laugh.
"That I am. But everyone loves me for it." I smiled.
"Yeah, I see that." He smirked.
Mike was just smiling at me when my phone rang.
"Sorry, it'll be just a minute." I said.
Mike's POV
I watched as she answered her phone.
The way her smile lit up her face.
I smiled, I just couldn't keep a straight face when I was around her.
"Hey babe." She said with a smile.
My smile quickly faded.
She was talking to Brian.
He really isn't a bad guy.
He's actually really cool.
But he's not good enough for Cynthia.
"Yeah, I told you I was going out to get coffee with Mike." She said.
I smiled with triumph.
I know he doesn't like me.
"Yeah, just for a while. Haven't seen him in a while and I want to catch up." She said.
I watched a smile spread across her face and I wondered what he was telling her.
"I love you too. So much." She said, a dreamy look in her eyes.
What I would give to have her look at me like that.
Her eyes flashed up to me and she smiled.
"Babe, I gotta go. I'm gonna see you in a little while." Cynthia said.
She smiled.
"I love you too." She said tenderly.
I tried to keep the grimace off of my face.
Cynthia looked back up at me.
"I'm sorry about that." She apologized.
"It's fine. Now where were we?" I asked, leaning forward.
