KIDA

I think I might die, read the note. As I looked at the note a silently giggled. Nakoma and I were in math class together and it was her least favorite subject.

Please don't die. I wrote on the back and then passed it up to Nakoma. We had been passing notes back and forth. I didn't like math either and we hadn't gotten caught. She turned around so I wasn't facing her black hair that was tied in a bun. She ran a finger over her neck and then cocked her face to the side, making a squinted face the all time. I'm really surprised no one caught us even though we were in the back.

Suddenly we got an announcement. "Just a reminder, all students must head to the gymnasium after second period," the speakers blared. Of course it was second period right now. Nakoma and I went back to passing notes.

--

The bell rung. Everyone rose from their seats to get to the gym. Nakoma and I left together and Pocahontas and Tiger Lily caught up to us. By the time we got to the gym it was already packed with people. We found a place where we could all sit. Not necessarily right beside each other but close enough.

Principal Mickey walked to the front of the gym. There was a podium with a microphone for him. Everyone quieted down at once.

"I'm so excited," started Principal Mickey, "for another school year full of smiling faces." Everyone groaned. This was the speech, the one the principal made each year.

Principal Mickey continued, "Each year we have a big trip to celebrate another great year. This year the freshmen will be going to California." He mentioned the other places the older students would be going too. After he had announced this everyone started to whisper again. Some were excited and others were convinced that the older students got better places to go. I saw Nakoma and Tiger Lily talking to each other excitedly. I, honestly, did not care.

"And finally," Principal Mickey said louder, "Just like every other year there will be 4 dances. One at Halloween, another at near Christmas, Valentines day, and of course the end of the year. Another reminder sign up sheets are on the bulletin boards in the cafeteria. I hope everyone has a great year."

We were dismissed and left the gym. Nakoma, Pocahontas, Tiger Lily, and I headed towards the cafeteria. I got lost in the crowd of sophomores who were exiting the gym. Once I did make it to cafeteria I used my height to an advantage and found them sitting at a table near the middle. I sat down next to Tiger Lily.

"I'm thinking of signing up for cross country. What do you guys think?" Pocahontas broke the silence.

We all nodded our heads in agreement and then started talking about what activities we would like to join. I looked at the clock.

"Guys," I pointed at the clock, "Bell's about to ring." We all stood up, as if in sync, and headed to our next class.

RAPUNZEL

There was an awkward silence at the table. Belle and Tiana just had a fight but no one knew what it was about. They had whispered to each other and suddenly Belle stood up and stormed out of the cafeteria.

Snow started up conversation again, "What are you looking at Rapunzel?" I looked up, startled that I had been called out. I had been staring at a redheaded girl mostly because she was the one thing a could through the space between Jasmine and Aurora. I think she was Merida. It's kind of hard to not notice wild hair. She was in my phys. Ed. And was really good.

"Oh um," I said still kind of startled, "just a girl over there. Nothing important." Everyone heads swivelled to see who I had been looking at.

"She looks kind of lonely," Ariel pointed out.
