TIANA
I woke up and checked the time. It was 8:00 in the morning. I decided to get ready for work. Meg, my roommate, was still asleep. I don't know how though because half of her body was off her bed. I got my clothes on, put my hair in a ponytail, grabbed my bag, and left.

I headed towards The Blue Bayou. It was very popular due to the fact that it was so close to the school. I was hit with cold air conditioning as soon as I entered. I looked around. It was nice to be back in the kitchen. A few other people who came early were bustling around. I saw a few familiar faces. One especially stood out.

"Tiana," Buford cried stretching his arms towards me. "How are ya?"

I'd known Buford since I was little. He used to work with my dad at one of his many part-time jobs. He used to have a restaurant like this back home but it got closed down and he moved all the way out here. Buford normally didn't let people as young as me work so I was the youngest one here.

"I'm good," I smiled. "You seem to be in a good mood." We started walking towards the racks.

He laughed, "I'm great. Ever since the school year started this place has been packed!" I smiled reaching for an apron. "Oh no you ain't gonna be cookin' today. I have got someone I want you to train."

"Really," I said curiously, "who?" I put the apron back on the rack.

Buford looked around. "Well he ain't here yet but I bet ya know him. His name's Aladdin." My mouth hung open. He was one of the biggest jerks in school. Not only that but he was lazy too. How was I supposed to work with someone like him?

"Well he definitely isn't makin' a good first impression," I huffed not bothering to hide how upset I was.

"Now Tiana," Buford tried to console me, "it's not for the whole day. Just the mornin'. Look he's right over there." He pointed towards the door. Sure enough there was Aladdin, slouched against the door. It seemed as though he had come right on cue. Buford went up to greet him. I sighed and walked up to them.

"Tiana will show ya what to do." He waved goodbye and left. Aladdin made a face.

I flung an apron at him. "I'm not thrilled about this either. Put it on." I gestured to the apron. As soon as he had it on I started walking towards the door that separated the kitchen from the dining area. "Follow me."

"I'll show ya what to do the first time," I explained once we reached the door. "Then you can try."

"Can't I just go out and ask them what they want," he asked.

I shrugged. "If you want to get on dish duty then, go ahead do whatever ya want." He made a noise halfway between a grunt and a groan. I smirked.

I stepped out of the kitchen. It hadn't changed a bit from last year. The tables were still covered with a dark blue cloth, the lights were hanging from different heights and places. The chairs were wooden yet surprisingly comfy. I made my way to one of my tables, for when I did waitress.

"Hi and welcome to The Blue Bayou. What can I get for you," I asked politely. I took their orders and left. Aladdin had been standing a little farther back.

I looked at him. "Did you get that?" He nodded his head in response. We walked into the kitchen and gave someone the order.

"Now what," Aladdin asked. I rolled my eyes.

"It's your turn. Now go out there, table 5, and take their order."

We walked back into the restaurant and I showed him the table. I stayed back, where I could still hear him, and he went up to the table. I could hear Aladdin copy what I said but more monotone and depressing. Obviously he didn't want to be here. I nodded in approval when he returned. I continued to show him what to do and Aladdin continued to copy.
