14. Rejection

Chapter 14:

3rd person POV:

Dom walks after Kora up to her room.

After his and Kora's training session ended he talked with a few vampires about the werewolf packs that are causing them trouble, he then went to look for Kora. He doesn't like how they left their last conversation. How she rejected him. At the time he was a little confused, how could she still not be ready for a relationship when she has been by his side and other vampires for almost nine years and he knows for a fact that she was never in any relationship in all that time.

Now it all makes sense. But the shock that she is mated to a werewolf was big, but seeing her as a wolf was even more mind blowing.

Once in her room she takes a seat on her bed while Dom stands near the now closed door.

He crosses his arms,"Explain."

She sighs,"Okay the truth is...I'm not a vampire, I'm a hybrid," she reveals,"My mother is a werewolf and my father was a vampire. They were somehow mated and I happened as a result," she shrugs,"I was born a werewolf but when I turned eighteen my vampiric powers and thirst started to come in."

Dom takes that all in,"Well how come you smell like a vampire?" he questions confused.

"My scent to vampires is well a vampire scent. And to werewolves I smell like them," she explains.

"You said you father was killed by a wolf pack though," he points out.

Her eyes darken to a ruby red,"Yes he was," she growls,"And by my very own mates pack. Thats why I refuse to be his mate. He killed my father!" She takes a deep breath to calm down before continuing,"Anyways even before I knew he killed my father I didn't want to be his mate. I just hated werewolves in general."

"But you were born a wolf."

"I'm more vampire than werewolf. I've repressed my werewolf side for years and I'm even stronger from doing so."

He mules that over then goes to sit next to her,"You threw your own mate in the dungeons," he chuckles.

She cracks a smile,"I don't love him, and I don't care what worldly force wants us together. I rule my own life."

Dom lifts his hand to caress her cheek,"Then be my bride," he tells her while gazing deeply into her warm brown eyes,"Your the first person I've loved since my family was killed many, many years ago. Be my Princess of Darkness, I will give you everything and anything you will ever need or want."

She stares back at him. Her love for Dom is great, but theres this little nagging feeling at the back of her mind telling her to not do this. But she doesn't care, as far as she's concerned she doesn't even have a mate.

She smiles,"I love you Dom. I will be your Princess of Darkness."

Dom smiles, ecstatic. He brings her in for a heated kiss which promises for much more to happen.

*Meanwhile down in the dungeons*

Blake lays on the dirty stone floor, chains embedded in the stone wall locked around his wrists and ankles.

He can't believe his own mate would throw him in here.

Maybe she is just confused? I did kill her father. She will come to her senses eventually. He tells himself.

'Blake. I told you not to come here, now you are prisoner here as well,' Blake's beta says to him via mindlink.

Blake sighs,'I'm sorry. I failed you all. The pack is safe though, your father is taking charge while they stay with Dirk's pack.'

Will, one of Blake's warriors, shakes his head and crawls up to the bars of his own cell,'No one blames you alpha. You tried to save us and you put our pack in good hands. We couldn't ask for any more,' he tells Blake.

Blake smiles but then falls to his side in pain. Hot, excoriating pain flows throughout his entire body.

"Ahh!" Blake cries out.

He digs his nails into the stone floor and grits his teeth together. He's heard of a pain like this. Its when a mate cheats on the other.

His eyes tear up from pain and sadness. Kora has truly rejected me. She's sleeping with another man.

Blake twists and turns in horrible pain. He doesn't know what is worse. The fact his own mate is cheating on him, or that he still loves her.

With all that she has done he still can't find it in himself to fully hate her. She is his mate, his other half. After all the pain she's caused him, he can't help but still love her.

Over the next few hours Blake wails in pain and heartbreak. His pack members around him bow their heads, they all can feel their Alpha's pain and sorrow. They look upon him with pity. Seeing their strong Alpha in such a broken state is enough for them to feel the hopelessness and sadness of the situation.

Finally the pain stops. Blake falls into blissful unconsciousness.
