The inside of the school was monstrous. The front doors opened into a grand auditorium where I was guaranteed to spend most of my days. In the center of the room stood two tables with teachers behind them passing out schedules. I approached and received mine. This morning I would be starting my day off in Advanced Mathematics. I asked the girl who gave me my schedule where I might find that class and she pointed me in the right direction.

I walked down the hallway by myself and entered the classroom. Every eye was on me except for the ones of the boy next to the only empty seat in the room.. Zeke. I went over to the table and sat beside him smiling briefly when he looked up at me taking note that he still had his hood up and earbuds in even though we were in class his demeaner was the same.

Class went by today with just the rules and regulations of the classroom and the teacher introducing himself. He seemed nice enough but I hoped never to test that theory. I sat paying so much attention to my first class of the day it nearly caught me off guard when a small piece of paper was passed to me on it it read, 'I told you we shouldn't be friends'

After reading it I wrote beneath it, 'I do a lot of things I shouldn't do Zeke' and passed it back to him.

The note then came back with, 'you'll regret it'

'Let me be the one to make that call'

'Why waste your time' And at that the snickering came from behind us and I was a little more clear on what he was talking about when he said that I would regret being his friend.
