"Ria, im bored! Make me something to eat!" Mason says

"Oh and put a movie on!"

Mason is a couple months older than me and is now 18. When I first came here things were nice, I was allowed to visit Manate who for all intensive purpose is now my father. I loved him like the father I never had, he was all I knew. Now Mason on the other hand, he always got everything, but as you would say daddies boy, he always despised me growing up.

That was until my 14th birthday Manate told me that I now had to prepare to forfil my duty as the Sekian and both Mason and I moved into the same floor.

Today is my 18th birthday and I will be presented to all to prove the Sekian prophecy.

"Put this on Ria! Oh and happy-"

Mason was about to let his guard down but he thew a box at me.

"Change in your quarter!"

I was given a self contained section of the floor joining to Mason's so that I would be there if he ever needed me for anything, usually it was convenient if he wanted me to do his homework or clean his area or make him food when the maids weren't here. "Mase please its my birthday be nice!"

I pleaded with him. Normally he was bearable but lately he has been acting weird around me. I went into my room and studied the box before me. I walked over to it, I touched the rim of the purple box although I stopped and yelled

"Do I have enough time for a shower?"

this was how we communicated, shouting at each other.

"yeah whatever just don't try too hard, I would hate for you to be disappointed"

one day that kid is gonna get murdered and I would love to be there when it happens.

I turn the taps in the shower and find the right temperature to my liking - I always preferred it quite hot.

As I let the hot water soothe my muscles it gave me time to think.

~Flashback~ "Ria can you please help me with my homework?"

a young Mason asks me

"Yeah sure Mase, but I have one question for you - is that okay?"

I was going to ask him a question that has been on my mind since high school started

"What now Ria? You know if dad hears us talking like while we are meant to be studying her will make you my Sekian quicker!"

I sigh, I have heard of Sekians before in Manates tales he told me as I was growing up.

"Alira, you will grow into the beautiful Sekian princess, do you know how special you are?" The Sekian I was told, was that every 50 years the Sekian girl was born- the gold eyes as some would them and bare the girl to a first born son, they would purify the family and bring wealth and prosperity.

"Mace, why are you mean to me at school and when it is just you and me you are like this?"

I said pointing to the two of us.

Mason would always pick on me in front of his rich friends and laugh at how I was a loner.

"Ria you know its for the best - when you become my Sekian I cant be seen to be caring towards you.

You are just there for my families wealth and my pleasure!"

I look at his hopefull eyes "I forgive you Mace but I want you to know that I don't like it but I understand!"

~END OF FLASHBACK~

"Ria hurry up, it starts soon"

"We still have 2 hours!"

"But you know how long I take!!" Now that wasn't a lie, Mason took forever!

I finally stepped out and wrapped the towel around my body and staired at myself in the mirror.

"Ria?? Janice is coming to help you and stuff" Janice was the resident beautician and she could make a rotten banana look amazing. While waiting for Janice I kept the intent stare at myself.

I was now 5 foot 4 and my long brown hair that normally sat with a wave that most people would die for was wet and straight coming down to the small of my back.

I wasn't too thin but I have 'decent curves' as the boys at school would tease.

My skin was that of a natural light tan colour which brought out the gold in my eyes.

My eyes - the curse that got me here but they were my main feature, such memorizing and yet so innocent. I could confidently say I'm one of the prettiest girls in school but I was made to focus on my grades and Mase alone. So at school, not being allowed to befriend anyone, my social status was the weird hot chick.

"Alira what are you doing stairing at yourself like that?"

Janice came bursting in "Well come on, we have got to get you looking amazing, but like that is hard"

she doted

"Your too nice to me Janice" I smiled back to her. I hear Mase's shower starting so I guess he is getting ready now. After my hair was done and Janise finished on my face, I hear the TV come to life - Mase was finished "Alira hurry up it starts in 40 minutes" he screamed out to me "ALRIGHT SHES ALMOST DONE GEEZ MASON!! GIVE THE GIRL A BREAK ITS HER 18th!"

Janise screamed out "Watch your mouth or ill tell my father" Mason rebutted and not to my surprise Janice rolled her eyes and we giggled. "You two are like an old married couple" she tried to whisper out "I highly doubt that - now would you be so kind to help me with my dress Mase got for me?" I slowly walked over to the purple box and staired hoping that it would open for me. I slid my finger on the box and it got the better of me and I threw the lid open and gasped.
