- Liliana's POV -We had arrived at the party pretty early, there were like 15 people there already, and with us there, it was closer to 25. Dave quickly came to greet us.
"Hiii, OBH I'm so glad you could come!" he said with a big smile and dragging the "a" in glad. Dave was the tallest guy in our class, being 6'5. He was also really humble despite knowing so many people.
He definitely wasn't the most popular guy in our class, but he was, hmmm, I guess upper middle class popular? Let me explain, so every school has that dream guy and his sidekicks that everyone wants to be or talk to or be recognized by.
But those guys are always so exclusive and out of reach. Dave was more down to earth. He could talk to everyone and he was extremely likable. So he knew the popular kids and the unpopular kids.
He was black with a nice buzzcut and big brown eyes. Today he wore, as usual, a white T-shirt and washed out blue jeans with cuts at the knees. This wouldn't have been so weird if it hadn't been only 23 freaking degrees outside and snow falling down.
I was wearing loose, but fancy pants in a darker shade of green, and a black sheer body with rose patches over the boobs, totally inspired by the white and snowy landscape outside (and not summer at all), and not to mention classy.
The kitchen was to the left, and a few people were sitting at Dave's dinner table talking with a drink infront of them, and to the right was a table with some snacks and dips. I guess he had thought of everything since there was different kind of chips, vegetables to dip in the different dips, and som fruits as grapes too. Past the table was the living room which was more crowded than the kitchen area. That's where the loud, and pretty bad, music was coming from. There was also some people in a room right infront of the front door, they were sitting on a bed and on the floor, I was guessing that was Dave's bedroom.
The others went into the kitchen to put their alcohol in the fridge and mix something up for themselves. This was a bring your own alcohol party, I'd never understood how people could throw parties where everyone got free alcohol at the party, seemed way too expensive to be worth it!
"So how's it going?" I stayed and asked Dave.
"Pretty good so far, no one has thrown up or spilled their drinks yet" he laughed lightly. "But then again, I guess the party's just getting started"
"Yeah, people are still arriving, right?" I asked out of curiosity.
"That's right, I think a little more than half of everyone invited are here, but there's some people I'm not sure if they will show up or not" he happily responded to my question. He didn't seem too drunk yet, but we were the same kind of drunk, not feeling it at all until everything hits you at once and the few boundaries you once had, are gone with the wind.
"Okay, sure" I answered Dave, not knowing what else to say. It was probably good not too many more people were planning on showing up, seeing as the apartment was pretty small. "By the way, here's a gift for inviting us, I think the others forgot to give theirs too you" I had suddenly remembered his chocolate in my bag and took it out for him.
He thanked me briefly before going to put it away. I lately followed the others into the kitchen and brought up my first bottle of wine. It was already opened since I had taken a few sips of it on our way here. Wine was my favorite alcoholic beverage, besides rum and coke or a pink panther. But today I had only gotten ahold of two bottles of wine and nothing else. I looked for plastic cups for a second before someone brought one to me, probably from seeing me look around the room for one. I took it and poured my wine in it.
I wanted to look around and see who had arrived before sitting down somewhere and choose who to hang out with for the evening. In Dave's room, I had confirmed it was his room when I found a computer and fancy colognes on a shelf, sat mostly people I didn't know, most of them were fascinated by his computer and I think they were actually playing some game. Ugh not my crowd.
In the living room people had started dancing, but there were also people sitting on the couch and on chairs. Had the music been better I might have sat down here, but I decided to move on to the kitchen again. I still didn't want to commit so i leaned against a wall and sipped my wine, engaging in conversation when I had to.
-
A few hours later, pretty much everyone had arrived. I think I recognized everyone but maybe one or two, but that was okay. I had just poured the last drops of wine of my first wine bottle I had brought into my cup and I was eager to drink it. Everyone had gathered in the living room and the music had been paused. It was time for the highlight of every party Gavin was invited to, he was gonna sing one of his famous drinking songs. Basically everyone had to hold their cup, while he, and the people who knew the song, sang. After a couple of verses everyone could join in and have a blast. Finally the ended and everyone took a big gulp of their drink. The music was raised after that and I tried to find my way out of the living room to somewhere the music wasn't as loud.
The room to Dave's room was closed, I hoped because the last person to walk out of there had closed the door out of habit, and not because people had walked in their to have their own fun, if you know what I mean. I squeezed my eyes shut and lightly pushed down on the door handle and opened the door quietly, still having my eyes shut. When I didn't hear anything I opened them, and found a guy laying on the bed. Alone. Fully dressed. The ceiling lamp wasn't on, but the one on the desk and beside the bed was, so I could see pretty good.
"Oh sorry for bothering you, I was just looking to get away from the music. I can totally get out of here if you want to. I really don't want to bother. I'm sorry, I'll just ge-" I was rambling, and I knew it. What I didn't know was how to stop, so I was thankful that the boy decided to stop me. I know in all the books for teenagers they always say so before someone interrupts the person by kissing them, but this boy just spoke, nothing sexual going on here.
"No, it's cool, I was just looking to get away from the big crowd out there" he said in a deep voice.
"Okay, is it cool if I stay here with you?" I moved forward towards the bed to lie down beside him. He seemed pretty cool, I had seen him in school before, but never really spoken to him before, ever I think. I just knew he had lived in Japan in Middle School before coming back to go to high school here. I think his name started with an H.
"Yeah, it's cool" he answered me back and scooted little further towards the wall. The bed was pretty small though, so I had to lie down right beside him, and somehow ended up with my head on his chest.
"I'm Liliana, by the way" I thought the best way to get his name was by giving mine first.
"Oh, I know, I'm Hunter"
See, I knew he would say his name too! And I knew it started with an H!
