Saiki's thoughts
----X----
Saiki's POV:
I knew a group project was coming.I knew it when I had heard the teachers thoughts during class two weeks ago.
And what I should've known was that fate would not be on my side, and I would be placed in a group with these morons I call my friends, and the unfortunate soul who would become our makeshift tutor.
I couldn't help but feel a little bad for Mizune. As far as I know, she doesn't deserve to be in this group. Although, I guess it was to be expected when I heard the teachers thoughts on assigning two proficient to advanced English students to each group. They were randomly assigned to help struggling students in English. Those students who were struggling were purposefully put together.
'Although shoving two of the worst students into group together is a little harsh.'
'Ah Mizune's group,' the teachers thoughts filtered into my own. 'If she can teach these boys at least one thing in English, I'll buy her lunch for a week!'
'Geez teach, we're not that bad at English.'
"Mizune!" The teacher called out to her.
"Oh! Yes Sensei?" Mizune replied and stood up walking around our desks to grab our assigned books from the teacher.
"I trust you to teach these boys, okay? I know you'll do what's best." The teacher said cryptically with a smile.
"Uh... yeah." Mizune said hesitantly as she placed the stack of books in the center of our table.
'The hell does she mean by that? I'm a student, not a miracle worker! I know Saiki will be fine at least, but the others...' she thought to herself and looked at her group disdainfully as Kaidou and Nendo battled each other in a thumb war and Toritsuka spoke to a spirit (though Mizune couldn't see it).
'Oh don't you worry Mizune, as long as I'm here, I'll make sure everybody participates.'
"So, Um...," she began, unsure of herself and what to say.
No one even spared her a thought, save for me who already knew what was coming.
'You'll have to be more forceful. These guys wouldn't know it's the end of the world until a meteor hit the face of the earth.'
And as if she had heard my thought, she took a deep breath in, closed her eyes and held it for a moment before letting it go and opening her eyes once more. Piercing brown eyes became more visible as she pulled locks of chocolate brown hair with vibrant blue tips behind her ears on both sides.
In an instant, she was a completely different person.
"If I could have your attention, please." She spoke, her voice a deadly kind of calm, a cool confidence taking the place of shy unsteady-ness.
I could only describe the tone as demanding for attention, not asking. And there seemed to be a lurking promise of punishment for those who did not succumb to it.
It was an odd thing to see from someone who was generally quite happy.
Even so, Mizune was a very well reserved and respected person. She was very smart and active, being captain of the girls soccer team and Vice President of the class.
The command for attention seemed to reverberate throughout the group because Toritsuka had shut up immediately and Nendo and Kaidou were as still as statues, hands folded gently on the desks in front of them.
