I never expected to die so suddenly...
Then again...I hadn't expected to die at all...
All I remember was...shooting the president...yeah, I remember that...vaguely...
I remember...zombies...lots of them in Washington D.C.
I remember hunting a man named Simmons...then running across Chris Redfield in...China? I think that's the place...
I remember taking Simmons down at the Neo-Umbrella Corp. headquarters...But I faintly recall the details...
I remember returning state-side, then redeeming someone's name. Wait, my name? I don't know...and I remember my vacation being ruined by Redfield and...Rebecca Chambers.
I remember gunfire, I remember a really nice bike. I remember...another virus outbreak, zombie dogs, New York and...
Oh...
Wait...am I dead?
I hear voices faintly in the distance. But...that's not possible. I'm sure I'm supposed to be dead...
Who is that? I feel a hand to my arm.
"Leon? Can you hear me?"
...that's Chris.
"Leon? Can you hear us?"
...that's gotta be Rebecca Chambers then.
I need to wake up.
My sight is hazy as my eyes open. I see...grey, but slowly it gives way to a warm light in a...patient's room? I smell the sterilizing smell of hospitals, then I see Rebecca and Chris on either side of me.
...Hell, what just happened?
"...did I fall asleep?" I ask.
Chris chuckles at me and replies, "Yeah, you've been asleep for a while."
"About 72 hours," Rebecca chimes in. "We found you in the streets."
"...sounds like I found a bar and got stupid drunk," I remark and try to sit up. Chris and Rebecca help me, but my body hurts all over. It feels like I have seriously bad bruises all over my body...like I've been tossed around like a ragdoll.
...what happened to me?
"I don't think that's what happened, Leon," Chris explains to me, "We teamed up against Glenn Arias and we defeated him."
...I'm drawing blanks. "...who?"
Rebecca looks a little worried. She answers, "The maker of the A-virus. He activated an outbreak in New York through the latent virus distributed in drinking water and activating it with the trigger virus through gas tankers. We were able to get the city cured for the most part."
We? Why do I not remember this? I hold my head; it hurts and throbs a little in the back.
"...you don't remember do you?" Rebecca asks me.
I frown. I explain, "Just...remember some things in bits and pieces, but..."
"Considering you were dropped from a skyscraper I don't blame you," Chris quips. I see Rebecca giving him a look, and at once even I find myself looking at him oddly.
"...I what?"
Chris falls silent. He exhales through his nose, then he looks at me.
"...we found you dead, Leon. You...you were dead, or so Rebecca and I thought."
...what? I was WHAT?
...I don't think I remember passing right out after being told I died, but apparently I did...
I was dead. No...I am dead...
