The bathroom door swung open. "What do you mean Malfoy?" she asked through clenched teeth.
He held up what he believed to be a marriage license. "I think we accepted each others marriage proposal last night," he stated.
She grabbed the parchment from his hand and read it. Then reread it, and read it again three more times. "Wait, what do you mean each other's marriage proposal?" she asked, frightened.
Draco folded. "Well, you see... You were drunk last night," he pointed out. Should I tell her that I was sober when accepting her proposal? he thought. No. She's already angry enough. And it's not the worst thing I've ever done to effect her before... "And I remember you proposing to me while I was drunk as well," he said, bending the truth.
Hermione was speechless. "We have to get this dissolved," she muttered. "I can't... We can't... Is this really legal? I mean, we're only 25, and I had a future planned, before I would even consider getting married. And the worst way to get married is when you and your so called husband are drunk!" she nagged. "WE WE'RE DRUNK. I DIDN'T-- WE DIDN'T INTEND FOR THIS," she panicked.
"Hermione, panicking isn't really going to help resolve this," Draco said. "I'll try to find a way out okay? I'll have the family barrister take a look at it. He can probably get this all cleared up in a couple of days," he added, calming the situation.
That seemed to relax her. But only temporarily as her overactive mind went to work once more. "What if someone saw us?" she wondered. "What do we tell them?"
"They won't," he assured her. "I'll take care of everything, no one will find out, and this will be over soon enough."
Hermione scoffed as she searched for her shoes. "I thought you wanted this," she joked, locating one shoe beneath the bed.
Draco blushed. "Funny, I remember you wanting this too," he replied, finding her other shoe and grabbing it.
"Yeah well, we were both drunk," she said, flirtatiously, taking her shoe out of his hand. And walking toward the bed to help put it on. Clumsily, she stumbled off, landing on the carpet.
Draco snickered, and ran to help her up. He expected her to chastise him. And she expected him to give her a funny remark. But neither received that. Both Draco and Hermione pulled each other into a heated kiss, stopping, realizing what had just happened. And then continued, for minutes. Until Draco pulled away, and ran out the door. Leaving Hermione on the floor, recapturing the moment unanticipated.
