Chapter Eight

Matt's POV (it's been forever, I know)

"Mail!" Carter knocks on my door.
I open my bedroom door of the little apartment we rented in London.
I take it from him.
A letter from Gracie.
I rip it open.
She sent me a picture.
I smile at it.
We were 10.
We had ice cream all over our faces.
I pin it up on the wall and open up her letter.
'Matt, I could never hate you. I remember this day. I miss you so much. Thank you for the CD. I fall asleep listening to it. I can't wait to see you.

Thank God.
She likes the mixtape, and she doesn't hate me.
One step closer to her loving me.
I pin the letter on my wall and walk into the living room.
I go on her twitter.
She retweeted some girl named Sadie's tweet.
'@sadiethompson: cheer captain & co captain!! 🎉😍💘'
The picture is of Sadie and Grace.
Grace's jacket says 'CAPTAIN' across the back.
She just gets more perfect everyday.

"So, Matthew. Cameron finally announced his relationship with Mahogany. Do you have a girlfriend?" The interviewer asks.
"Nope. I'm basically single forever." I say.
She laughs a little.
"C'mon, there's got to be someone."
I shake my head.
"She's clueless." I say.
The interviewer nods.
"Well, hopefully she comes around."
Hopefully.

Grace's POV

I tried to watch Matt's interview on tv, but I didn't make it home from dress shopping in time.
I can just ask him what happened.
"I like the dresses you picked, Grace." Casey says.
"Thanks. I think they look great."
She nods.
"How's cheer going?" She asks.
"Pretty great, actually. We have our first game on Friday night."
"So, Sadie is helping with choreography?"
I nod.
"Yeah. She's great at it." I sit down on the couch and pull out my homework.
"Well, I think you definitely deserved captain. James and I are going to look at a house tomorrow. Do you want to come?"
"Sure." I sigh.
"Great. It's a huge one. Don't worry, you'll still be going to Stranahan if we move."
"Great."
"Also, Marisa stopped by while you were on your run. You should call her."
In her dreams.
