saori, yuta and doyoung were always the original bunch to have lunch together. occasionally, chanyeol would join them, whenever he was ditched by sehun and kai. other times, it was only saori and yuta when doyoung had duties to attend to. 

they never though of merging with other groups to join one table, which is why they were surprised when ten suggested they eat together. even johnny was taken aback by it. it didn't even cross their mind to suggest it.

"where's this coming from?" johnny asks right after ten had interrupted his conversation with saori.

"nothing! i just thought it'd be nice to eat together~ the more the merrier, right?" ten hums delightedly. 

johnny squints his eyes in suspicion. "right." he purses his lips together and shares a look with saori.

the girl just shrugs her shoulders. "why not?" she agrees. "i think it'll be okay with yuta. i don't know about dons, though..."

"why, what's with doyoung?" 

"i don't know. taeyong weirds him out."

"huh." 

"who cares about doyoung? he's just a drama queen!" ten pushes the two towards the cafeteria. 

in the end, he gave up and only dragged saori with him. johnny was too big for him to haul around. 

taeyong and jaehyun already saved them a table when they arrived. ten approaches them cheerfully, pulling saori along. when they got to the table, jaehyun scolds ten for manhandling saori carelessly. 

"sorry about him, saori. girls refuse to talk to him that's why he doesn't know how to act around one." jaehyun separates the girl from his chaotic friend and offers her a seat.

"thanks jaehyun." she smiles gratefully. 

the boy makes sure ten sits the farthest from saori, and saves johnny a spot next to her.

"sorry about ten. you'll get used to his... enthusiasm..." johnny pauses for a bit to describe his best friend. 

deep down, he was secretly gratefully that ten can be so stubborn and persuasive. he was actually happy saori agreed to sit with them at lunch. hopefully, it was the same with yuta and doyoung. 

"hey, saori! i'm glad you agreed to eat with us. doyoung's always rejecting my offer." he pouts at the mention of her best friend.

"yeah, he mentioned it."

"really?" taeyong looked like a puppy given a treat.

"y...yeah..." saori drawls. "don't worry. he's only rejecting you because he wants to eat with yuta and i."

"but i told him he can bring you guys with us! that's not an excuse anymore."

"really?" saori mentally notes to question doyoung about it later.

taeyong and ten get up to get some food, taking everyone's orders, including saori's. she tells them no need since she and yuta are always given packed lunch by his mom. johnny also declines their offer, proudly showing them a packed lunch his mom made as well.

for a moment, his friends looked shock, but it soon melted into soft smiles and 'noice' comments from ten. (of course.)

left at the table were saori, johnny and jaehyun, with the latter making the effort to converse with saori.

they mainly talked about yuta, who was the common ground for them. apparently her cousin has this ongoing 'sport' rivalry with jaehyun in physical education. the girl had snort at that because she can imagine yuta's pettiness when competing with others. he's always very particular about being the best in soccer, basketball, and even swimming.
