"he's gonna be fine, sao." saori hears johnny whisper at her ear. she's been tense the whole club session that led donghyuck roasting her despite being a one-man team. ten had to skip club practice because he was also in dance club so that's that.

a lot of students in their school are such overachievers. no matter who you ask they're always in two different clubs.

johnny in council and debate. ten in dance and debate. taeyong in dance and home economics. doyoung in council, debate, math, and choir. and then there's mark... saori's lost count of how many clubs he's joined.

"i'm sorry," she apologizes.

they were on their way to the council room. debate club just ended and saori insisted on walking johnny to the council room.

she doesn't have much to do in theater anyway. seohee, the club president, is treating her like air, and not really assigning much responsibility to her. yeri did promise she'll text saori if there's anything going on in theater.

saori made plans with yuta to visit doyoung at home.

"hey, you don't have to say sorry," johnny comforts her, stroking her cheek softly.

they stop in front of the council room and johnny and saori lean in to kiss goodbye.

"he's gonna be okay," johnny pecks her lips. "tae said he's talking like usual so that's a good sign, right?"

"i still can't believe he replied to taeyong first," saori pouts. "i'm his best friend! well, if you exclude yuta—but still!"

johnny chuckles and pinches her cheeks. "i'm sure he just doesn't want you to worry," he reasons. "and hey, you're visiting him today, so give him a break, yeah? he still needs to recover."

"fine." saori huffs. "but i'm not letting him off so easy!"

"alright." johnny pats her head and kisses her forehead. "i'm gonna go inside and do doyoung's paperwork. thanks for walking me even though you didn't need to."

saori rolls her eyes. "i wanted to! what, girls can't walk their boyfriends now?" she whines and gives johnny one last hug.

"tell doyoung i said hi, okay?" johnny hugs her bag tightly, burying his face into her hair.

"i will," saori replies before pulling away.

"i'll text you later, okay?" with that, they part ways and saori goes to the school entrance where she and yuta are supposed to meet up.

she spots him but stops a few feet away when she sees who he was with.

"so saori joined the theater club too, huh?" she hears momo's giggle. "that's cute. didn't she like performing for your family?"

"yeah." yuta laughs fondly. "she and i always had this dance routine prepared whenever there's a nakamoto family gathering."

"ah, yeah. i remember that. she used to tell me that all the time." there was a nostalgic tone on momo's voice as she recalled what she had with her best friend. "i wonder how many stories she hasn't told me..."

saori felt a sharp pain on her chest. why is she hearing this now?

yuta comforts momo, putting an arm around her shoulder. he then notices saori standing a few feet away, startling him.

"sao!" he calls her.

saori's eyes are stuck on her shoes. she doesn't feel like meeting the two's gaze right now so she runs past them.

"sao, wait!"

"saori!"

yuta and momo call for her but she's already far away.
