EARLIER THAT NIGHT
"alexa, honey, i think that's enough for the night, yeah?" madelaine said, eyeing alexa in concern as she's practically downing her fourth shot of tequila.
"huh? what?"
"jesus christ, you and tom didn't break up right?" kj asked.
"of course not! i mean i'm surprised someone actually stayed with me for this long." alexa confessed, clearly the alcohol was starting to take over her system.
alexa never really talked about her past relationships, not even to her friends. she could barely tell her brother and he's the closest thing she's got to a best friend. i mean they have an idea of her past but she never discussed it in full detail, and when she tries to, she snaps back shut and changes the subject immediately.
there was nothing really harrowing about her past relationships, it's just the fact that they never really let themselves see for who alexa truly is.
she's so used to being left in the dust that it has gotten to the point that she's surprised that someone is willing to stand by her. it's like no one dares to try and win her heart. they do but, a little bump in the road comes and suddenly, they feel like a whole mountain just emerged in front of them.
don't get her wrong, she earns great support from her family, it just so happen that she's quite unlucky when it comes to relationships.
"oop, here we go." cole mumbled as he grabbed alexa by the arm and sat her down.
"okay, i'm taking that," lili stated and grabbed the drink from alexa, in which she just pouted and whined like a toddler that had their lollipop taken away.
alexa took her phone out instead and scrolled through her contacts.
"should we be concerned?" madelaine asked no one in particular. alexa placed her phone on her ear, waiting for someone to pick up her call.
"alec!" alexa shrieked, a big grin plastered on her face. "am i disturbing you? were you sleeping?"
"uh, yeah," alec grumbled, "it's 2 am here alexa, are you okay?"
"i'm great!" she cheered. "one question though, why do you think tom stuck up with me for this long? surely you didn't pay him to stay though right?"
alec sighed, "lexa, are you drunk?"
"noooooooo," she drawled out. "i'm definitely not drunk."
"okay, now i really know you're drunk." alec replied. "can i talk to someone who's sober?"
"there's really no one here-"
"hey, it's maddy. don't worry, i'll take care of lexa. i'll just let her crash in with me, so someone can look after her." madelaine explained as she snatched alexa's phone.
alec let out a sigh of relief, "thanks maddy."
"anytime."
"i'm apologizing in behalf of my sister, she can be quite a handful sometimes."
"alec, it's fine. we don't really mind, we were just taken aback because we don't really see this side of her." maddy tried to reassure him.
alexa just passed out in the couch, her head resting on kj's shoulder.
"i know, but still, i gotta make it up to you guys." alec insisted.
maddy was still in the phone talking and reassuring alec while kj was on his phone, trying to make minimal moves as alexa rests on his shoulder, and cole had his chin rested on lili's shoulder as he watched his girlfriend furiously tap on her phone, probably texting someone.
maddy let her eyes wander throughout the club when she saw a familiar face, "hey alec, i'll call you back." she said then hung up.
