Next morning I was cleaning my locker when someone saluted me in a very distinctive way:
- Good morning love!
- Good morning John, how are you?- I answered in a moderated jovial tone.
- Are you serious? Aren't you going to tell me to go away or insult me?
- No, i'm serious, please don't make me regret it.
- Alright, now we are talking! And yes i'm fine thank you. I see your face is getting better.
- Nothing that a simple healing spell won't fix. Good thing you showed up, there is something I wanted to tell you- his eyes lit up when i said this.
- I'm intrigued, what is it love?
- I never got to thank you for what you did. You saved my life, more than once. Most importantly, you saved Doc's life, and for that I will always be eternal grateful to you.
- You mean it? I thought you hated my guts.
-I know we didn't make your life easier, specially me, but you didn't gave up. I can't hate a person with that caracter. You earned my respect, so thank you.
- It's alright love, being persistent it's one of my best qualities in case you haven't noticed, i mean i still haven't gave up on us.
- Okay now you just ruined everything!
- Come on now... I already said that to people with our looks and powers could make each other very... pleased.- he said while looking at me from top to bottom. I decided this was the time to confront him.
- You know John, a few days ago I called in a favor, and asked a friend of mine to do a little background check on you.
-You know that is kind of hard to believe since you don't have friends.
- No, I have friends, useful ones actually. I know about you childhood, your father, your mother- his face turned pale. He didn't look like the same guy.
- My father gave me a nick name: Killer, when he got home from the pub he always called for me by that name. That's when I started teaching myself spells and incantations and became well...this.
- I'm sorry, I realy do.
- Don't be, I couldn't have saved your life if it wasn't for him.
- I also know about Newcastle, about the girl, about what you did and what you used to do before all of this happened- his face turned dark, he obviously hadn't't got over the incident- you are not here just studying, you are running away from you old life. Life wasn't always easy for you, I know how that feels like, but we know you will get through it, as far as me and Doc are concerned, you will always have a place in the Sanctum.
- That's a really nice thing to say, who are you and what have you done to Casey?- he chuckled.
- Not so fast pretty boy. You know I read some of your adventures over the years. What you did yesterday, was nothing compared to some problems you handled before. You could have contained the demon the moment you saw it but you didn't. That got me thinking, and I got to say, you almost had me fooled.
- I beg your pardon?
- Drop the act John, you knew exactly what you wanted the first time you saw me with this talisman. You are a good sorcerer, i'm sure you did your homework and checked up on me before approaching me. You knew the Talisman of Abraxas was in the private collection of Doctor Steven Strange . The tchills, the chicken skin, all that talk about attraction and the " magic is not why i can't leave you alone" thing it was all a con, an act, a simple magic trick. You used me to get to Doc, you knew he was powerful, having an ally like that on your side is a pretty valuable leverage. You never cared for money, you never cared for me at all, you wanted an excuse to meet Doc. Tul'Uth gave you the perfect opening.
- Well I got to say, I am impressed you were faster than I was expected, but i'm sure you understand everyone needs to wide their horizons a little bit to see the whole picture.
-I couldn't agree more- I closed my locker firmly- see you around John- I started walking towards the exit door. I took a few steps out to the street where he cut me off.
- You know someone with your set of skills has a high probability of causing troubles again- he got closer with that cocky smile on his face- thankfully troubles are my area of experties.
-Is that so?- We were alone, he seized the opportunity to grab my hips, he got his lips closer to mine, I could feel his warm breath on my mouth and the smell of his cologne.
- Yes, you will need someone to look after you.I tend have a thing for danger, I just can't seem to be able to resist them for some reason.
- You want to look after me John?
-Like you wouldn't imagine- he spooned my face with one hand, I starred into his eyes.
- Well I guess you should stick around, you never know when will I be in the mood for troubles again.
- If you want to say something just say it Casey.
- I could but what would be the fun in that?- he smiled and then kissed me slowly, I don't know for how long but it seemed to last forever. He hold me tighter and I wrapped my arms around his neck. He started kissing me faster. He is such a good kisser. We stopped to regain our breaths. He gently placed his forehead in mine :
- I like your way of keeping an eye on me, it's very efficient.
-Yeah I think that to- he crashed his lips into mine - i have been thinking about it since the day i first saw you with that talisman.
- Who would of thought that i'd be able to pull something good from a bad boy?- we chuckled. Those kisses seem to last forever. In that moment everything seemed perfect. I guess i couldn't keep it forever.I really don't know how to explain it but it just felt right. Maybe because now i could see who he really was, instead of that shallow persona that he showed to everyone, or maybe because we were connected by something a lot more powerful than ourselves. John was right all along, we were a lot a like, we were both stubborn, lonely, and trying to run away from something we couldn't outrun. Everything in my life was starting to workout for me again. Of course being in the magic business, that didn't last forever, but that is a story for another time.
