A/N: Sorry that this is so late. I've had this chapter written on my phone since the night I published the first chapter, but then I went camping and then I was lazy and then I had to edit and transfer all five pages from my phone to my PC to wattpad with copying or pasting, so... Yeah. Hopefully this one is better than the last chapter. I love writing Corey, Elton, and Aaron so much! They make everything funnier. Anyways, onto the chapter!
Also, 400 Lux was the song for this chapter.
Sam woke up with his heart in the pit of his stomach.
He had spent several hours the night before lying awake, replaying all of the recent events in his mind, before eventually drifting into a thankfully dreamless sleep. However, upon waking, everything seemed even worse than it had before.
Sam had kissed his best friend. Well, technically, Colby had kissed him, then Sam had kissed Colby later on, at a completely different point in time. However, looking at things that was didn't make it any better. The final result was the same; Sam had kissed Colby, and now he didn't know if he could face his own best friend.
Sam rolled over onto his side, drawing the sheets up around him, pondering all of the possibilities from the umpteenth time. He knew that Colby was straight. He had always been the one more into girls, even though he hadn't dated in recent years. Who had always been the one, back in high school, who had always been coming back from parties with crazy stories about all the girls he had kissed? Colby. He was just that kind of guy. Guys like him couldn't be gay. Right?
Sam lent out a pent-up sigh. He was overthinking this. What had even compelled him to start something last night, into the hall, after Colby had so clearly been uncomfortable and embarrassed after kissing him for a dare? He had stared at Sam as if he had two heads for the rest of the game. Surely that meant that he had done something wrong...
The possibilities and minor details were too complicated for Sam. He wanted to go back to bed and pretend nothing had ever happened. The thought that Colby was just across the hall was terrifying, but not even close to as terrifying as the notion that they had to record a video today. That would involve talking, which would involve recognizing that yesterday's events had actually happened. Sam was not terribly interest in doing any of that. Not now, not ever.
Colby was just his friend. His best friend, admittedly, his closest confidant, and the one person in this life he felt truly connected to, but just that. Nothing more. That's all he would ever be.
Sam rolled onto his stomach and drew a pillow over his head, intending on pretending the world had disappeared until it did.
According to Corey's calculations, Sam had emerged from his room at approximately 10:47 AM, looking as though he had been hit by a runaway train. Also according to Corey's calculations, Sam was taking this far too seriously.
"Dude, Elton, is he still sulking out there?" Corey asked, glancing over at the bearded man seated next to him at the kitchen island. Elton leaned to one side to peek into the living room, the straightened up and surreptitiously stroked his beard.
"Hmm, let's see... Yes. Yes. Oh, and yes." He gave Corey an exasperated look. "He's just slumped over in there, typing away on his laptop like some sort of depressed hermit. Seriously! If I were him, I'd be celebrating! It's not every day that you get to make out with a hot guy."
Corey rolled his eyes and his friend's antics. "Of course you'd think that." He replied.
"What, so I'm weird for thinking that? I'm not the one who kissed him, or the one who made up the dare." Elton protested, giving Corey a meaningful glance.
