A/N: This chapter has been mostly written for about three days now. I was just too lazy to write the end. Anyways, now it's done. So far, it's the only chapter that has been edited. Shout out to my older sister, who was the one who had to read this crap. Now, without any further ado, le chapter. (also there isn't really a song for this one so just listen to Milkshake by Kelis or something)
Friday mornings were not Colby's favorite.
It had been almost a week since the truth or dare fiasco, and things had more or less calmed down. Emphasis on the "more or less". Sam was no longer avoiding Colby like a noxious disease, but whatever they were wasn't exactly the same as it had used to be. The obvious staring from the roommates had lessened, but Colby had walked in on Corey and Elton whispering to each other on several occasions, and on each occasion, both men had swiftly straightened up and acted "natural" as soon as they had seen him. Colby was beginning to feel like a stranger in his own home.
Whatever. He could get over that. Right now, he had to focus on making videos and letting the whole ordeal slip into the past. On that particular Friday, Sam and Colby were scheduled to make another exploration video for the collaborative channel. They would be exploring an old farm in the middle of nowhere; there were reportedly four buildings on site, including a barn, a stable, a small shed, and the actual farmhouse. So far, there had been absolutely no discussion on the topic of the video or its production. Colby intended to change that.
Sam was downstairs. Colby had scouted him out from between the bars of the landing railing, as usual, and found him on the sofa in the sitting room. Slipping down the stairs in sock feet, Colby made his way over.
"Hey dude." He said, greeting Sam with a smile as he collapsed onto the couch next to his friend. Sam was on his laptop, scrolling through the internet. Colby took a moment to glance over at the screen and saw that Sam was browsing a website called "The Ghost in my Machine". Colby leaned a bit closer, took note of the page title, "The Most Dangerous Games: The Dark Reflection Ritual", and sighed through his nose.
"Are you seriously gonna do one of those rituals again?" He asked incredulously. "You know that's why our house is haunted, right?"
A smile traced Sam's lips as he scrolled down the page, stopping at the instructions. "Hello to you too, and yeah, I'm gonna play this game." He replied, not looking up from the screen.
Colby sighed again, and rested his head against Sam's shoulder, desperately hoping that nobody was watching them. "Well, can you stop summoning demons long enough to go film an exploration video with me?" He asked sweetly, batting his eyelashes at Sam, who snorted.
"Are you a Barbie princess or something now?" He asked, shoving Colby off and shutting his laptop. "Yeah, I'll go. Gimme a minute to pack up and check the weather to see if we need to bring hoodies."
Colby flopped sideways onto the couch. "Mkay, I'll give you a couple minutes." He called after Sam's retreating form, then pulled out his phone. Might as well check Instagram while he waited.
Driving out to the abandoned farm took a lot longer than either of them had expected. Colby drove, and Sam spent the first bit of the drive over telling the camera what they were doing. At one point, he asked Colby to fill the viewers in on the history behind the area. Colby obliged happily enough; there was virtually no information on the place other than the fact that it existed, and soon enough, Sam set down the camera and turned on the radio, leaving no room for conversation. Colby bit his lip but didn't say anything. At least they were acting normal enough for the video.
