The sound of your front door closing behind you as you stepped into your house echoed throughout the foyer. You leaned back against the solid wood door, letting out an exhausted sigh. Work had been very tiring, and you were more than ready to relax and spend some time with your family.
As you slowly meandered toward the staircase and made your way to the master bedroom upstairs, you started to feel like something was off. Then you realized, you hadn't seen your husband or daughters anywhere.
"Spencer?" you called out, raising an eyebrow when no response came. "London? Emma?" Before you could become more worried, your twin daughters responded with loud giggles and a single 'Mama!!', their voices resounding in unison. Then the thundering of their little feet came as they ran down the hallway and crashed into you, wrapping their arms around your legs and screeching about the fun times they'd had with their father. You smiled and laughed at their excitement, kneeling down and talking with them.
"Where's Daddy?" you asked after a few minutes.
London's hazel eyes lit up, the expression practically mirroring her father's. "He's in our room, Mama!" she squealed, and Emma, who was equally ecstatic for reasons you still couldn't figure out, grabbed your hand and followed her sister back to their shared bedroom.
There sat your husband, Spencer Reid, in the middle of their bedroom floor with his long legs crossed. You snickered when you noticed he was wearing one of his daughter's tiaras with the pink fuzz and large fake diamonds and had an elastic band waist tutu made of pink tulle around his middle (which was surprising until you once again remembered just how skinny he was). His long, nimble fingers cradled one of your daughters' tiny plastic pink teacups, and there were two more set on matching saucers that sat on a round, pink table.
"Oh, hello dear. Nice tiara," you laughed, and Reid joined you. "Having fun?"
"Actually, I am," he replied, a huge toothy grin cracking across his face. "Any tea party London and Emma throw is a blast!" The young twins both giggled, and ran over to their father, throwing their arms around his neck. "Hey," he chirped, catching the attention of his daughters, "why don't you get your mom a cup of tea so she can join us?"
"Yeah!" London and Emma chorused, Emma running to their toy box to grab another teacup and saucer while London took her yellow teapot to the kitchen to fill it up with more water.
You smiled warmly at your girls and sat down by Spencer, laying a hand on his knee. "How was work, by the way?" you asked quietly, raising your hand to remove his tiara and run your fingers through his hair. His eyes slowly closed (he always loved it when you played with his hair) and he leaned his head onto your shoulder, letting out a comfortable sigh.
"It was good," he murmured. "We just had paperwork today."
You nodded slightly and pressed a lingering kiss to his forehead. "That's good."
"Yeah. And then I picked up the twins from daycare. And I got us a couple pizzas too, for dinner. So you wouldn't have to cook after coming home from work."
You smiled, leaning your head on Spencer's like it was some kind of a hug. "Thanks Spence, that's real sweet." He leaned up to properly see your face, his eyes slightly open and a goofy smirk on his lips. You grinned and leaned down to kiss his perfect lips, a gesture he gladly returned. You were soon interrupted, however, when your daughters came back into the room only to see their parents kissing, and proceeded to make loud disgusted noises.
Laughing, you and your husband sat upright; a look quickly exchanged between the two of you said that you would resume later. And it certainly did.
