The group spread out across the room. Andrea and Tyler immediately teamed up, looking in every corner and crevice. Oli was trying, but wasn't getting very much done. Matthew was working apart from the rest of the group, studying a grandfather clock.
Oli: We should have the upper hand, having done this before, but there is literally nothing to help us. No clues, no bright arrows pointing to the way out or reality.
The searches started to drag on. No one was having any luck with anything. The couch cushions were strewn everywhere, cabinets were flung open, bottles were poured out.
"I found it!" yelled Mathew as he pulled out an ornate ebony skeleton from the decorations on the fireplace mantle.
"Well we need to find two more keys, so let's keep looking." Replied Thomas. Within the next five minutes, Skyler randomly smashed a lightbulb, startling everyone, but yielding the second key. Soon after, Tom found the final key intertwined in the curtain tie.
"So, what do we do now?" asked Daniel, asked the group gathered around the bar. As if responding to his voice, a box on top of the mantel clicked open. Jordan grabbed it and brought it over to the group, placing the contents on the table. There were two envelopes, one in a smoky grey similar to the one Selene had given the g5roup earlier and one a deep blue with white writing "do not open until you know of tragedy." Thomas grabbed the grey envelope, broke the wax seal, and read it out loud to the group.

Thomas turned the letter over. "Anyone good at reading maps?" he questioned.
"Me." Skyler raising her hand.
"I thought that high schoolers just relied on their phones for directions." Tom asked with a clear edge of resentment.
"And I thought that the Globetrotter would know how to read a map and would volunteer, hence your name." Skyler shot back.
Skyler: I am done with Tom
Skyler examined the map, then turned back to the group. "Let's go," she said, walking out of room with the group behind her. They wove their way down dark corridors, before Skyler stopped at a spiral staircase. "This is it." She told the group, looking at the map one final time.
"Well we've hit rock bottom and the only way to go now is up." Responded Jordan.
"That statement clearly isn't true for you." Smirked Tom and receiving a glare from Jordan. Everyone climbed the stairs to the rooftop where they discovered Colleen, Eva, and Lizzie in shackles connected to the brick wall. Their eyes lit up when they saw the group. Skyler, Tom, and Matthew quickly unlocked the girls, who were immediately enveloped in hugs from the others.
Lizzie: This whole thing is just terrible. I was invited to what I thought was a nice dinner party and ended up chained!
"So, what's in the box?" Jordan asked. The group turned to see that a box identical to the one in the game room.
"We could try the keys." Colleen replied, already looking better. The three with keys lined up the keys to responding colored locks. The box popped open to reveal a bunch of chess pieces and a chess board.
"Wait you guys! There's another compartment with a lock that doesn't match the keys!" Matthew cried out. Tyler flipped the chessboard over and to his surprise, there was a message on the base.
"Guys, the base of this says that we need to line up the armies to unlock the box." Tyler exclaimed and began to set up the pieces with the help of Skyler and Eva. They were almost finished when they realized that three pieces were missing. "Check the floor!" called Tyler.
Matthew: So Lizzie and I start looking at the keys and she realizes that the tops of the keys look an awful lot like the missing chess pieces.
"Guys, we found them!" Lizzie cried. She and Matthew snapped off the tops of the keys and placed them on the board. The box snapped open and Jordan grabbed the letter.
