So uh A/N before we start. This bad boy has been in the works for almost a month and is about 10 pages in length, which makes it my longest chapter with a total of 4000+ words! Yay!
Updates will becoming more frequently as it is summer and I have more free time, so good for this.
Hope y'all enjoy!
"I swear, that challenge was rigged." Muttered Tom to Jordan as the group trudged back to the game room.
"You can't just say that because another person died." Replied Jordan.
"I know, I know. But Selene did say that the loser wouldn't have a piece. The only way that works is if the loser is predetermined."
"So, you're saying Skyler was set up?"
"Yep," Tom said as the group walked into the game room. The remaining guests stood up, trying to see who was killed.
Andrea: It hurts knowing we're responsible for Skyler's death, but it had to be done.
"Do you have the pages from the manuscript?" asked Thomas to the group.
"Yeah" replied Lizzie as she pulled them out and placed them on a side table.
"So that's one out of how many more of these artifacts are there?" asked Tyler to Selene.
"Nine. Though there would be eight if we could have gone back and gotten the first artifact." Glared Andrea.
"And we lost more people than we needed too" muttered Daniel.
"The letter said that 10 of us would die, three people are dead and if we're going off of the letter's information, then we're on track. We're doing the right thing, even though this is morally wrong." Shot back Tom.
"But if our past experience means anything, then each artifact means one death. And if Oli's death didn't yield an artifact, then more of us have to die than the letter told us too!" replied Andrea.
"Actually, you guys, on the topic of the letter, I have a small idea about it." Murmured Eva from her spot on the couch. The group turned to face her.
"Go ahead Eva." Said Lizzie.
"Before I start, umm...Selene, could you leave? Not really sure where your allegiances are and I don't want us to die because of something you heard from us and told Joey." Eva responded. Selene glared at Eva, but slowly moved towards the door and left.
"So, what was it you wanted to talk about?" asked Thomas
"On the letter it said that we had to find artifacts from "past souls lost." Could that be the others who died in Joey's past parties?" Eva replied.
"You could be right. The last two artifacts were apparently property of the rail master and the novelist. Any ideas on who that could be?" Mat asked.
"Those names seem to fit Destorm's and Alex from our 'party', as they were the railroad tycoon and the novelist. But what about you Eva?" Tyler replied.
"Yours seem pretty dead on, the only ones I can think of are a stretch and that would be Andrea B and me, but I think you're correct." Eva responded.
"So, who's next then?" asked Jordan as an envelope slid under the door.
Jordan: I guess Selene is bitter that we kicked her out. She shouldn't be so evil then.
Mat picked up the envelope, opened the letter, and began to read it aloud;
