I have found this journal along with a pencil beside it in a room where there are many chests filled with paper and pencils. I, as Leader for the group of boys who have arrived here this morning, have decided to keep record of what occurs in this strange place while we are here. I have been chosen to be the Leader here due to the reason that I was the first to arrive. I have no recollection of any specific memories before the time I woke up in an elevator-like cage which lifted me up to the land above. All the memories I do have are general, like knowledge of the sky, stone, paper, even shoes. But anything detailed seemed to be cut out of me, as though there is a barrier in my brain in which I am unable to break through. I have asked some of the other boys the same questions concerning their memories, but they all say the same thing. Just general knowledge.

The land above, although familiar in some ways, is simple. I seem to recall the word glade every time I look at our surroundings. It seems as though all the structures were placed here for a purpose. But that is not even the most mysterious part of this terrain. There are four walls extending to the sky made of stone and covered in vines. And in the middle of each of these walls lies a stone door, as massive as the walls themselves. I am not yet sure how these doors operate yet or why they were placed there, but I'm sure we will learn as time passes. The question going through every persons' mind right now is not where are we, but why we are here.

Below I have asked all the boys to write their name in the order of which they came out of the elevator-like cage, or the Box, as we have decided to call it.

Later Today...

After everyone explored the Glade a bit - we all agreed to not go into the Maze except John, who totally freaked out and ran into the damn thing after an hour of being here - we decided we needed order. We took note of what structures were here and decided to build off of that. There are four main structures around the Box - huge gardens with plenty of crops, pens with various animals already inhabiting them, a forest in another corner and last but probably most important, a huge one story structure made of wood with small but thick glass windows. Inside the place is a sitting room with three rooms inside. There are also cabinets with two dozen or more glass bottles with a serum labeled Griever Serum. We have no clue what Grievers are, let alone why the serum would be of any use, but that type of knowledge will come with time.

In our meeting, we also discussed having leaders besides myself, or Keepers, as Asher suggested. We came up with jobs according to what people seemed to have a talent in and the resources around us. First, we arranged the Medical Team, which alone includes Jackson, since we probably won't have any need for a Medical Team until we can figure out what the Serum is for. Next, we need a source of food to actually have the potential to stay alive, since we can't exactly go munching on raw carrots for the rest of our lives here. We have Parker and Gavin cooking in the Kitchen, Parker saying he would be Keeper. Jeff also said he would help out in the Kitchen when they needed him. Then we organized people into helping with the crops and such. The following people volunteered to do this job -Anthony, Riley, Randy and Andy. We moved onto the animal pens, which we figured we would be needing to slice up some of the livestock living in those fences. That has become our first task - to build a station in which the Slicers (The people who kill the piggies and such.) can do their job and slice up our protein for Parker and Gavin to cook up. Colton, Mason and Oliver offered to do the task since everyone else was hesitant, Oliver saying he can be the Keeper for the Blood House, since no one was calling them Slicers after the term Blood House was mentioned.

Of course to fully establish a proper living community enclosed by walls, we need our Builders. The Keeper position was given to Gally, who seemed up for the important task of running the Builders. Along with Gally is Lucas, Sky, Eli and Adam. Eli is also the collector for resources and such around the Glade, or the Bricknick, as he decided to call himself. The remaining people who follow do not have designated jobs, but will roam the Glade day to day and help where needed until we find them a proper position here - Asher, Ian, Jonas and Chris. Newt is also included in this list but says he will stay at the Homestead to assist Jackson if ever necessary.

But I have failed to mention six people, five of which have bravely volunteered to venture out beyond the Walls of this Glade and see what lies beyond. Minho, volunteering first, had become the Keeper of the Runers. Miles, Levi, Chase and Den have also offered to assist in this task. However, since running out, John has not returned. We worry but do not panic. We have all come to our senses now and see that panic will only make the situation worse than it already is.

We have also decided the following people will be allowed to write day to day experiences that occur here in the Maze, myself included. It will not only help us keep track of who is here, but how long we've been here.

That's enough decision making for one day though. Night is upon us and we must rest for the days ahead of us..
