Twilight Sparkle woke up in her crystal castle. She had gotten used to her new abode after Tirek had destroyed the library.Spike walked into her room and saw that Twilight was awake. "Mornin' Twilight!"
She smiled. "Good morning, Spike. What's got you all cheery this morning?"
Spike paused from dusting her dresser. "Pinkie Pie invited us to a simple picnic at Ponyville Park. I figured we could go, since there isn't much to do today."
Twilight stretched her wings. "I guess we can go. Hmm.. What should we bring?"
Spike shrugged. "I dunno. Have you seen Barbara around?"
Twilight shook her head while smiling. Barbara was a baby dragon that mirrored Spike's looks. She was technically him from the other universe. She was Dusk Shine's assistant, who was her in the other realm.
As she walked out of her crystallized room, Twilight cringed when she saw all the hallways in front of her.
She still hasn't memorized every little detail of her new castle, it being so big. She had gotten inconveniently lost more than a few times.
Dusk Shine was at the table wolfing down some eggs and pancakes when Twilight arrived. Like her, he was an alicorn royal. Same stories, same whatnot.
It seemed as if the only thing they didn't have in common was their genders.
"Good morning, Princess Twilight." Dusk muffed out of a mouthful of pancakes.
"Dusk, we talked about this. No royal casualties." Twilight said. She still wasn't comfortable about her friends treating her like she was a diamond in the rough.
"The crown makes it kinda controversial." Dusk answered.
Twilight noticed that her crown was on her head. Why it was there and how it got there was a complete mystery. She took it off and chucked it behind her.
Dusk chuckled, and Twilight rolled her eyes.
"So, you going to the picnic later?" Dusk asked.
"Wouldn't miss it for the world. I hear Applejack is bringing her delectable apple pie and--" Twilight started, but she stopped talking when Dusk gave a wince at her saying 'Applejack.'
"What? What is it?" she asked.
"Um nothing. I gotta go." Dusk answered as he flew out of the castle. Unlike Twilight, he liked to use his wings a lot because he was always fascinated in aerial Pegasi facts.
'Wonder what that was about' Twilight thought. She finished her food, and she got the food for the picnic ready.
She hummed a sweet little song that Fluttershy taught her. That filly's voice sure is amazing.
"Spike! Barb! Let's go!" she yelled.
As she walked with Spike, Barb, and Dusk to the park, she questioned Dusk.
"What was that earlier? Is it about Applejack?" she said.
"Nothing. We best be moving on from that, Twilight." He answered.
Twilight's wings extended, blocking Dusk's path. She looked at him skeptically.
Dusk looked like Applejack when she was trying to keep something important in. His lips were curved, his eyes were moving around, and he seemed to have a small blush on his cheeks.
She gasped. It couldn't be. Dusk Shine couldn't have a... crush on Applejack!
As the realization sunk in, he whispered into her ear. "Don't you dare tell anyone."
