The Strange Apprentice- Book Two

Chapter 10

It was Friday, exactly one week after we had reach consensus on our plan to defeat Nightmare's creature and his plans of world domination. It was dark, cold, and they were about 8 pm, we had chosen an hour that people would be watching TV. We were positioned on both sides of a very large street far from the Sanctum. We were hoping that the creature would attack were he felt our presence thanks to what the Titans had done to it last time. As planned, the creature appeared on the site coming from nowhere. Starfire and Raven were the first to leave their positions in order to distract the creature and move it to the place where we needed it to be. Beastboy and Cyborg started teasing the creature from behind. Beastboy turned into a green rhino ( that was his power, he could transform into the animal he wanted) and invested into the monster while Cyborg shot plasma beams into it's face. Everything was in position. Damien quickly hacked the cameras on the News station so they could broadcast the fighting scene that was going down and joined the fight, while Doc recorded what i was about to say. When he established the link i began to speak:
- People of New York city and citizens of the world, don't fear because me and my teammates mean no harm to you. I'm here to talk about the disease that is already contaminating almost half of the world population. The illness that you are medically trying to explain is the work of a very powerful sorcerer that goes by the name Nightmare. He has been planting nightmares in your heads, your children's heads so he could feed himself of your fear in order to create mass hysteria, bringing down entire nations and gain control of the world population through fear. This is one of this creatures- I said while I stepped away from the front of the camera so Doc could zoom in on the action. The video was already being watched for billions of people- this monster grows as you fear grows too. Only you can prevent this to happen. Only you can stop Nightmare and his creatures. The illness you are trying to cure won't go away unless you do exactly what I say. You most show bravery and fight your insecurities and fears. Release your inner demons and set them free. Put the past behind you and get read of the ghosts in the closet. The Teen Titans are the worlds greatest heroes, they will keep you safe but they won't be able to eliminate it unless you believe you can overcome your fears.
Suddenly, the creature, that until then was just as tall as a small skyscraper, started to down shrink releasing cries of agony. It was working, now for the big finale. Raven shouted:
- Robin, now!- As she said this, Damien lit a huge spotlight and pointed it straight to the monster's eyes. The creature was temporarily blind which allowed me, Starfire, Doc, and Raven to put everything we had on this monster. Light beams from different colors were now tearing the monster apart piece by piece. Until the creature shattered in million of black gooey chunks. We had done it. The people that were passing by and in the mean time ran to cover from the damage we were causing, approach slowly and looked around to see what was going to happen next. When everything was silenced, they started to clap and cheer for the Titans who had save the day once more. I returned to the spot were the camera was and, still gasping a little, concluded the speech before we had cut the communications:
- As you could witness on live stream today, there is nothing to fear when the Teen Titans are around. The fate of the world is saved because of you, we thank you all for the support and help you have given us. Robin, cut the camera- I ordered. He cut the communication completely and the broadcast returned to normal. After the situation calmed down and we gathered the equipment, we retreated to the Sanctum through a portal. Everything had went perfectly ( for a change) and we were all safe and sound. Robin said a few words of encouragement to the team and we celebrated for the rest of the night with some food and drinks . We were all enjoying the party when the masters of the other Sanctums walked in on us coming from Kammar-Taj :
- Congratulations Titans for what you have achieved today, Kamar-Taj thanks you for your services.
- It was our pleasure great master- said Starfire.
- As for you two, you could have betrayed us and your teammates today but you didn't, you could have joined Nightmare but you didn't. The one called John Constantine has refuted what you told us, young sorcerer, it is now clear that whatever happened to your imortal soul wasn't your fault. You Strange created an incredible sorcerer and such gifts for teaching must not go to waist. You two have been accepted again in Kamar-Taj.
-Thank you master- we answered in choir. They retreated from the Sanctum and the party went on with even more joy. I couldn't believe it, for the first time in my life, John had taken a bullet for me. We hadn't't spoken since that night but, I had to see him, I had to say something. So I got out of the party in a rush and went to his place. When i got there, i almost fell sorry for him, that place was a mess, he was a mess. I took the bottle of whiskey away from him and sat him down in the couch:
- So, have you found it in your heart to forgive now?
- I am touched by what you did John, I seriously am. You took the consequences of your actions and I will always be thankful for that. But what you did was unforgivable, you took away the only thing I had for granted in this life: my eternal life, and that is not something I can just look away. There is no doubt in my mind that I will always love you, and cherish what you did for me. I will always be available if you need something from me, but i can't give you more than that. I'm sorry.
- Well i suppose it's better than the state we were in a week ago, if that's what you think it's the best for you, than I won't come in your way
- Thank you, i appreciate that- he then asked me what had happened tonight and i told him everything about it. We talked as normal friends would talk, which was weird because a) i didn't think he was going to let me go that easily and b) he didn't say one of his terrible dirty jokes. After talking for a few ours, I left giving him a kiss on the cheek. It wasn't supposed to be romantic, it was a caring goodbye and he got that crystal clear. After this I went home, it was 3 am and I really needed a shower ,and some sleep.
