It was an unusually grey day when she woke up. No birds chirping, no sun shining in. Groggy from the events of the previous night, Cordelia had been the first to rise. Hardly remembering what had happened, she lay staring at the ceiling. Misty was next to her, her breaths steady as her chest moved up and down. She rolled out of bed and sat up, making sure to sit for a few seconds to make sure that she didn't fall over, as she felt particularly faint. Her first footstep caused Misty to jolt up, her breathing becoming faster and her eyes darting around the room. "De! Oh De! You're ok, thank God." Cordelia answered with confusion, "Why wouldn't I be? I'm only a bit faint--" Misty's eyes dropped to the ground. "You don't remember? De, you tried to kill yourself last night. Took a whole lot of pills. I for sure thought you were gone-- but I was able to bring you back, somehow. It all was so scary." Cordelia was silent for a moment, her face displaying a horrified and shocked expression. "I... tried to... kill myself? I just remember getting very sad and going to the bathroom. It felt like a thousand voices were yelling at me... and I guess I don't remember anything after that". She began to cry. Misty got up and hugged her. "Misty, how did you save me?" Cordelia asked. Misty looked past Cordelia with a nervous look on her face. "I was so desperate. I remembered that one time, I picked up a dead bird, and it all of a sudden flew away as alive as anything. I wanted you back more than anything, and I guess this instinct took over". As Misty explained, Cordelia's eyes began to water. She could barely get out a whispered "thank you".
