Chapter 9

I looked at the red haired girl who had blue eyes and freckles. Erica was standing next to the opened door, holding a bag in her left hand.
“Nothing.” Tyler and I mimicked.
“Okay… I just came to pick up some stuff for Ethan, but I can come back later. I don’t want to interrupt anything.” She said looking at Tyler and then at me.
“No, no you’re not interrupting. It wasn’t what it looked like. We were just talking. Ehhh…I’ll help with Ethan’s stuff.” I said as I held her by the wrist and lead her to Ethan’s room.
Once we arrived, she opened the bag and started putting some clothes in it.
“So what’s going on between you and Tyler?” she asked innocently.
“What do you mean? Nothing’s going on.” I stated clearly.
“Oh please! That did not look like nothing! It looked like you were about to kiss! Your faces were that close, and…. he was holding onto your waist.”
I started stuffing a bunch of clothes into the bag, not realizing that he wasn’t even going to use half of them.
“It’s just Tyler. We had an argument about something and he was being annoying.” I sighed.
“What was the argument about?”
“I probably shouldn’t tell. It’s not my secret.” I said with an apologetic look.
She nodded understandingly and continued packing. Once she was done, she waved goodbye and left to go to the hospital.

I quickly hurried to my room since I heard my phone ring.
“Hello?” I said but it came out as a question.
“Hey, it’s Jake.” The person on the other end of the line said.
“Oh hey! What’s up?”
“Emm well I was just wondering if you’re busy?”
“Not really. Why?” I asked whilst sitting down on the side of my bed.
“Do you want to get some coffee?”
“Sure, I’ll meet you at Starbucks in fifteen minutes?”
“Great! See you then!” He said and hung up the phone.
I quickly changed my clothes to a pair of skinny jeans and a baggy tank top, which I tucked into my jeans. I grabbed my handbag and stuffed my phone, keys, and wallet in it. My hair was tied up in a high ponytail and my makeup was kept very natural. I made my way down the stairs ready to leave when I opened the front door and jumped up from shock. Nate was standing on the other side with the keys in his hand.
“Hey, did I scare you?” he asked smirking.
“You just surprised me that’s all.” I answered smirking back.
Nate had just come back from the grocery store and had two heavy bags filled with foods in his hands. The huge muscles in his arms were flexed and I could see the veins in them. I tried not to let him notice I was staring but it was too late since he turned all cocky and slowly slid past me into the kitchen and put the bags down.
“Do you need some help unpacking?” I asked.
“Aren’t you going somewhere?”
“Yea but I have a few minutes.” I said as I walked towards the bags and started putting the food away.
