Chapter Four.
I have been sitting on this bed for what feels like days.
Looking at the clock above the door, it has been approximately thirty minutes.
I haven't been able to relax since Jet left. Mostly because the anxiousness in my body is not allowing me to lie down. There is nothing to do in this room anyway. There is a large desk in the corner with a computer, but I do not know the password to login. A bookshelf is stationed at the other corner, but it's nothing interesting enough for me to get my mind off of the current situation. What is my dad thinking right now? Do they know I am gone? These questions were invading my mind and squeezing all the energy out of my body.
Looking at the sliding glass door to my right, I noticed it was growing dark outside. I wondered if the city lights below the hill looked as beautiful as it said in the books. I have never been anywhere close to a city. I have always been stuck inside my pack house longing to explore outside of my territory. My curiosity led me right in front of the transparent door. I wonder if it is unlocked. I placed my hand on the cold glass doorknob and turned. I heard a faint click. It is unlocked!
I pushed the door to the right, sliding it over until it could not slide anymore. The chilly dusk air sent sent goosebumps up and down my body. The night breeze swept through my long hair, blowing the few loose strands behind my neck. I stepped outside on to the lavish balcony. There were a few couches and a tiny fire pit set in the middle of them. I walked toward the railing and looked at my surroundings. The moon was shining bright in the sky, illuminating the trees. Below the crescent moon was the city. Lights of all colors bounced off of buildings and dim lights glowed from the windows of apartment buildings. It was amazing. I could even see cars moving throughout the winding streets. It was exactly how I imagined it. If not better.
"Don't jump."
I turned around quickly to lock eyes with Kace. He was still in the same clothes he was wearing earlier and his sandy blonde hair was disheveled. His combat boots clicked against the stone floor as he made is way over to me. His face was emotionless as always.
"I-I was not going to." I stutter, still surprised.
"Good." He said with a small nod, "If I catch you trying to escape, you will no longer have permission to stand out here."
I gulped, "Uh, I wasn't planning on escaping. I just wanted to see the city."
"You've... never seen the city before?" He asked with a judgmental tone.
"No. My father never let me leave our territory." I told him honestly, wrapping my arms around my body to keep warm.
"Of course he didn't." Kace scoffed, "Alpha Cason only cares about himself."
"Don't talk about my dad like that." I spat without thinking.
This obviously triggered something in Kace because his eyes darkened before grabbing me by the upper arms. I yelped in surprise as he pushed my back against the railing. His grip was tight on my arms as he leaned in close to my face. He was furious. Jeez, someone has anger issues. His rough, hot breath hit my cold cheeks as his amber eyes burned mine.
"As long as you are here, I will be giving the orders. Not you." He said slowly and menacingly, "You are worthless just like your father, don't think for a second that I won't kill you if I have too."
My heart hammered against my rib cage, "What did my father ever do to you?"
"That's none of your business." He shot back at me, almost interrupting my sentence, "He's lucky that I didn't finish him off back there."
