A soft knock on my bedroom door awoke me from my blissful dreams. I slid off my night eyewear and sat up straight, before muttering a tired, “Come in.”
The dim light of my alarm clock shined brightly against my temporary nocturnal eyes. To make matters worst, whoever had knocked on my bedroom door had decided to switch the lights on, blinding my eyes further.
“Shut it off,” I muttered, tiredly.
There was a soft chuckle then the room went dark once again. Still used to the darkest, my eyes clearly made out a tall silhouette staying next to my closed bedroom door. I squinted my eyes trying to make out a face, but my feline like powers were limited tonight.
“Who’s there?” I whispered, unsure if I should be asking a potential murder his name.
“Logan,” a voice whispered back. My breath hitched and it was clear he heard it, because he slowly started to walk towards my bed. His blonde tousled hair became clear as he approached, while the color of his thin shirt empowered his skin tone.
“How did you get in?” I asked, my mind still wondering if this was a dream or reality.
“I told the man down in the lobby you asked me to come,” he answered, touching the edge of my bed.
So that’s how Justin got in, he told the security I was expecting him. With my brain fully aware of my surrounding, I decided to ask Logan the real question of the night.
“What are you doing here?”
Logan sighed, “I came to explain why you should be with me instead of Ethan.”
Would it be wrong to listen to him? To hear the words I’ve wanted to hear and understand for so long? To finally come up with the answer that has been eating me alive? I was fouling myself if I said I only liked Ethan. Kissing Logan felt right, even if a couple mouths ago I held nothing but burning hatred for him, it felt natural. But being with Ethan was as easy as water flowing down a stream; there was no struggle or reluctance.
“Okay,” I whispered against the night air. Using the small light my window drapes granted to enter my room, my eyes recognized a thin smile appear on Logan’s lips before he tried to climb onto my bed.
“Oh, no you don’t!” I hissed. He was not going to get on my bed. If my stepbrother or my father entered my room, they would not only cause a scene, but also attempt to kill Logan.
“Okay, okay.” Logan whispered, backing away from my bed. “I’ll just sit over here.” He walked over to my black leather armchair, where Lauren had set her purse down hours ago.
“Alright, go on,” I said as he finally sat down and made himself comfortable.
Logan chuckled, “It started off the day I asked you to help me embarrass Courtney.”
“Hold up. What even happened to her? We never exactly got her back,” I interrupted.
“I’m waiting for the perfect time for Courtney. She’ll get it soon,” Logan answered his eyes captivating scenes far off in the future, before continuing his previous talk.
“I realized I had avoided you all this time, because I had unresolved feelings for you. Feelings that Justin had told me to keep back if I wanted to get anywhere in life.”
Typical Justin getting into everyone’s life like if he had all the answers to our problems.
“Things got worse at Zach’s party, I drank too much and my emotions got the best of me. That’s why I was rude to you when we ran away, I wanted you to think my previous actions were just misguided,” Logan paused, not to be dramatic, but to prepare himself for what he had to say next.
