I was scrolling through my mentions on Twitter, when Lauren startled me by walking into my bedroom. She slammed the door shut behind her and threw her Nina Ricci Tote on my black leather armchair, before throwing herself on my white-sheeted bed.

“Uh, come right in,” I said, sarcastically.

Lauren’s back rose as she laughed into the pillow she was hugging.

“So, what brings you to my lovely home?” I asked, trying to rip the pillow away from underneath her. Her makeup was going to stain the fabric if she wasn’t careful.

Lauren readjusted herself, placing the pillow behind her hair instead of her face and laid flat against my bed, facing me.

“We need to talk,” she answered, all previous humor absent from her face.

“What’s wrong?” Had she heard of Justin recent visit? Soft chills ran down my spine as I tried to erase our last encounter. Not only was Justin going to punished for assaulting me last time, now he was going to really pay for-

“Turns out that new guy is related to Danielle Blackwell.”

My heart rate increased, while my palms and the back of my neck began to built sweat. Danielle Blackwell wasn’t a foreign name to Lauren nor me. She was present the night Lauren, Amy and I formed a special bond.

“Does Amy know?” I asked, sliding off the edge of my bed and walking to my computer desk. I moved my computer’s mouse to deactivate its sleep mode.

“Yeah, she said if she goes down, she‘s bring us with her,” Lauren informed as I started typing a website into the browser. After the web page came up, I searched for the name of the person I would have to confront if I wanted all of this to keep quiet. A home address and phone number appeared on the white pages’ website.

“What are you doing?” Lauren asked, her green eyes curiously searched my computer screen.

“We’re going to go have a little chat with old friend,” I replied as I slid my cursor towards print and pressed firmly down on the right tab. Seconds later, my printer roared to life, rapidly pressing ink upon a blank sheet of white.

Chloe’s smile faded as her eyes registered Lauren and I standing on her door step.

“What are you two doing here?” she asked, angrily. Her brown eyes scanned the pedestrians walking by.

“We need to talk,” I said, placing a foot into her townhouse. The internet really has its advantages if you’re looking for someone’s home, Chloe’s house wasn’t that hard to find. All I had to do was eliminate any boroughs lacking in taste, and I found a perfect match in the Upper West Side.

“You know, I’m a bit surprised you moved to the west side,” I said as Chloe sighed and opened her door for us.

“People don’t like to gossip as much around here,” she replied, shutting the door behind Lauren.

“Well things will change once they hear about your past,” Lauren said as we walked into Chloe’s contemporary themed living room.

Chloe sighed heavily, understanding what Lauren was referring too. “What do you want now?”

Lauren and I smiled to each other, before turning to a feeble Chloe sitting on her sofa.

“We want you to get rid of someone for us,” I said, throwing a folder on her coffee table.

Chloe rubbed her face and wrapped her thin cardigan tightly around her. She bit her rosy lips, before nodding to herself. “Okay, but this is the last time. I can’t deal with that lifestyle anymore,” she informed, her voice creaking at anymore.

Lauren sat next to her and wrapped her arm around her, for comfort. “Just this once, we promise.”

Chloe sighed once again, before grabbing the folder I had thrown on her coffee table. She lifted the cover, and just as I had expected, gasped when she recognized the Upper East Side citizen Lauren and I wanted gone.

“Wh-Why?” she shuttered, I could smell the fear and confusion escaping her drying lips.

“Because she’s in the way,” I replied, feeling like we were being watched I lifted the white drapes an inch apart from the window and peered through. Pedestrians continued to walk by, unaware of what was occurring inside the building we stood.

“You know she’ll just come back,” Chloe said with ease. She flipped through the pages of the folder, eyeing some with awe.

“I can handle that. I just need her gone for a couple of weeks,” I said, still watching pedestrians mind their business.

“She won’t suspect a thing,” Lauren encouraged.

Chloe nodded in agreement. “I guess Amy Walker’s days in New York are numbered.”

Lauren smile, while I continued to stare outside, thinking back to the night Amy’s life and mine collided.

Remembering the blood stained forest ground made my stomach sick, I had forgotten how horrid I had been to agree to Amy's requests of keeping quiet, but I wanted to be popular more than anything. So when Amy offered popularity over silence, I quickly said yes, and if Bentley finds out I was there that night in the woods, everyone in New York will finally understand why almost killing Ethan didn't make me a monster. No, I became a monsters years ago, under the tree tops of Yosemite Park.
