For those naive people who still trust their friends.

Hell is empty; and all the devils are here - William Shakespeare

Monsters.

That's what I called them. Those affluent people who deceive everyone, so they can make their way to the top. One of the best monsters in the Upper East side was my grandmother. During her days, she controlled the Upper West and East Side with an iron fist. You see, Upper Manhattan, or at least the parts that matter, is consisted of two boroughs. The Upper West Side, where people of new money live, and the Upper East Side, where people of old money live.

Denizens of both neighborhoods have always considered themselves better than the other. That's how the monsters started. People wanted to gain higher social status than everyone else. I bet you think only affluent people care about being better. Wrong. Everybody wishes to be more popular, smarter, talented or beautiful than everyone else. We all want to be special or in command. The sooner we admit it to ourselves, then the sooner we can plan our domination.

I’m Chelsea Young, by the way. Yes, that Chelsea Young. The only child of Alexander Young and Danielle Clemence.  My mother contributes more to couture fashion than any other fashion designer in the world. I’m sure you’ve heard of me. If you haven’t, just remember my dad owns half the country.

However, this isn’t about who my parents are. It’s about the beasts that play in Manhattan, and how I played along with them.  Because once you make it here, you can make it anywhere.

                                                    Here goes everything.
