Levi x Hanji

Part 4

Hanji looked at him, tears in her eyes. She weakly tried to stand again but immediately crumpled to the ground. Levi watched her lay there, shaking and crying, his blood ran cold as the thought of losing Hanji ran through his mind. He was not going to let that happen. Hanji curled up, awaiting her fate.

"Shit! She can't get up!" Levi thought.

Sheer terror and panic shot through Levi seeing the titan's fingers close around Hanji. Hanji struggled, trying to break free. The abnormal titan tightened its grip around her body, causing Hanji to cry out in pain. There was a very angry yell and moments later, Hanji was falling. She crashed back into the ground, the titans pained roar slicing through the air.

"GET OUT OF HERE NOW!" Levi ordered.

He was standing up on top the titans head, his blades shoved in its eyes.

"I-I can't walk," Hanji said.

"Crawl! Drag yourself, damn it! Just get out of here!" Levi said.

Hanji took a breath and looked around. There it was, the lake... Hanji knew that was her only option right now. She grabbed her blade, using it as a crutch and forced herself off the ground. Levi watched as Hanji stumbled, only using her good leg to walk, towards the safety of the lake. Knowing she was going to be safe there, Levi turned his attention to the titan.

"You hurt someone I care about," Levi growled.

"And you are going to PAY."

He ripped his blades out, ignoring the titan's roar. Levi dodged the titans hand as it swatted at him.

"You are one ugly son of bitch," he said.

The titan reached for him. Levi fired his cables and swung down to the ground. The titan charged at him.

"Tch," Levi muttered.

He once again fired his cables, dodging the titan's jaws with ease. Levi muttered, he was growing tired of this, but he knew he had to keep the titan distracted long enough so that Hanji could get to safety.

Hanji had made it to the lake finally. She'd lost quite a bit of blood and was very weak. Hanji sighed with relief. With very little strength left in her, Hanji dropped into the lake. The cool water washing over her skin as she transformed. Her wounds stung and burned; she could feel the broken bone or bones in her tail where her leg had been broken. Hanji grimaced and slowly began to swim to the other side of the lake.

Levi had killed the abnormal titan and was preparing to go after Hanji. More heavy footfalls crashed into the ground.

"Ugh, more of these things..." Levi sighed.

Four more titans, of the 12-meter class, headed towards him.

"Captain!" came a familiar voice.

Levi saw Eren, Mikasa, Reiner, Armin, Sasha and Jean racing towards him.

"We came as fast as we could," Reiner said.

"Is Hanji all right?!" Sasha asked.

"No." Levi replied.

"Where is she?" Armin asked.

"Somewhere by the lake, I was going to go there but these monsters showed up," Levi replied.

"Leave it to us Captain," Jean said.

"We can handle them," Eren added.

"You go find Hanji and leave the titans to us," Reiner said.

Levi nodded.

"Don't die brats," he said before he rode away.

"Yes Captain!" the others said.

Hanji dragged herself onto the sandy shore. She could barely keep her eyes open.

"L-Levi..." Hanji called weakly.

----------

Levi raced his horse along the lake.

"Hanji!?" he yelled.

Silence.

"Damnit! Answer me four-eyes!" Levi said.

That's when he heard it...a faint cry. Levi stopped his horse and jumped off. He ran off in the direction of where the voice had come from.

Hanji looked up hearing running footsteps. A wave of relief washed over her seeing Levi.

Levi stopped dead in his tracks. He was not prepared for what he saw. There was Hanji, lying motionless on the sand that was stained red from her blood. Levi noticed her tail, but he was too worried about Hanji and focused on getting her out of the open to care about that little fact.

"L...Levi...y-you came..." Hanji coughed out.

"Of course, I did Hanj...shitty glasses," Levi replied.

Hanji laughed but immediately started to cough. Levi watched in horror as she coughed up blood.

"We need to get you to a medic. Now." He said.

Without hesitation, he pulled his cloak off and wrapped it around Hanji. Levi scooped her into his arms and stood up.

"Levi...you'll *cough* get blood on you..." Hanji said weakly.

"Don't care." Levi replied.

"Now shut up and rest, please."

"Captain!?" came a voice.

Eren, Reiner, Jean, Armin, Mikasa and Sasha ran over to him.

"What's with Hanji and her..." Jean started.

"Shut your mouth Kirschtein." Levi snapped.

Jean quieted.

"Braun, hold her while I get on my horse. Be extremely careful." Levi ordered.

Reiner carefully took Hanji into his arms. Levi quickly climbed up onto his horse. Reiner lifted Hanji up to him. Levi held Hanji close to his chest, like he was protecting her.

"Braus, Ackerman, I need your cloaks," he said.

Sasha and Mikasa tossed them up to him. Levi wrapped the cloaks around Hanji's tail hiding it from view.

"We're heading back," he said, looking at the group.

"Keep up."

He snapped the reins and his horse raced off. The others close behind. Levi glanced down. Hanji' s eyes were closed and her breathing was slow and pained.

"Hang on Hanji..." Levi said.

-Later that evening-

Hanji woke with a start, not remembering that she had been rescued. Her entire body screamed in agony with the sudden movement. Tears beaded in her eyes and Hanji curled up against herself. A few moments later, Hanji felt two hands gently pulling her back into a lying position. She glanced over, but her vision was blurry due to not having her glasses so she couldn't really see anything but a figure with dark hair.
