My eyes were wide open as my body relaxed into the mattress beneath me but my mind would not let my body rest, knowing my mate was in a place I could not reach. It was just my luck that Dallis was being kept captive by my sister, the one person who hated my entire existence with every fiber in her body and all the essence of her soul.

How did my sister even plan to exact her revenge? Was she planning on killing Dallis or worse, mating with her?

My blood began to boil just at the thought of it but my heart began to hurt when it finally dawned on me- my sister absolutely despised me. My own blood, my only sister wishes for my death. I wasn't even completely certain if I could recall what her face looked like.

Unable to sit still any longer, I rushed to my feet and out the bedroom door, my legs intent on getting me to my destination. I was at her bedroom door in a matter of miliseconds.

Without proper warning, I threw the door open, revealing a stark naked Allecra with a beautiful, naked human positioned beneath her. "My Princess," my right hand woman gasped before standing to attention, forgetting about her human lover.

The human scrambled for something to hide their privates before also, saluting me. "Leave us," I commanded with a wave of my hand. The slave exchanged glances with Allecra before scurrying off.

"What is wrong?" my dearest friend asked.

"We have to rescue my mate and I need your help figuring out how."

"That's the Vera I know and love." We both took a seat on her bed. "What do you know already?"

"The witch doctor performed experiments on Raven and Raven has found a way to control the enchantment on Alice's door. Instead of accepting me, the door rejects me now." Her ears jumped at the mention of Raven but instead of caring, I began to pace the length of her room. "The door can only be opened by Dallis' blood from the inside but only on a full moon."

"Meaning your sister will be free in approximately two weeks." Allecra rose to her feet as well, watching my every move. "This also means Alice can't kill your mate, atleast not immediately."

"I cannot let that happen."

"Neither can I. Your throne awaits us." Our eyes connected and I remembered then who cared just as much of the throne as I did. If I became Queen, Allecra would have more power than ever. She would be unstoppable.

"Maybe this is punishment for my crimes." I took a seat on the nearest couch, my head resting in my hand. My mind was swirling with incoherrent thoughts and emotions.

"You did what you needed to do. That is what a ruler does, V. You did what no one else had the courage to do." She kneeled by my side, her hand resting on my knee. "We're so close."

"You weren't there, Allecra!" I turned my face so she could see my anger and the tears threatening to fall. " You didn't see the light leave your sister's eyes as she died!"

She was silent for a moment, her lips drawn tight. "I have seen more than enough death to know exactly how you feel and you are very aware of that fact." Allecra moved away to the window, her eyes scanning the field below us. "I've seen my fellow soldiers die in battle. I've killed more humans than any other- on your command, nonetheless."

"Do not turn this on me!" I rose to my feet, my nails growing longer at my sudden spike of anger.

"I watched your mother imprison my sister for petty crimes." Allecra turned to look me square in the eyes.

"Your Queen."

"So now you want to honor your mother?" She stepped closer to me, her eyebrows furrowed. "The same woman who killed Isla? Who dishonored every mate you chose to be yours? Who cut off your wings, Vera?"
