During one of our classes in february 2018, the teacher gave us an new assignement. We had to make our first 3D game using the "Unity" Engine. For my part, i was only of the few who were already making games with the engine, or making games at all...

I knew that the teacher was going to assign us this particular project, since i have friends who already did the class last semester. Also, i have the dream to make my own games since 3 years now.

I wanted to make a game that would impress my friends and classmates, so i made "MonsterCake" or "Spare-time Game #6". The game took me 2 weeks to make and i made it with the idea that i couldn't take more than 2 weeks to make it, so i could show it to the teacher the day he will announce the assignment. If you thing this is dumb you are right.

Long story short, in "MonsterCake" You are a cone who get pushed by hearts who wants you to get out of bounds, and you will get a Game Over. One of the main geatures is that your gravity angle will always have an angle perpenticular of where you actually stand. For example : if you climb a mountain, jump on a wall or climb a tree, you will be able to walk that walls/roof/other.

I made the game in 2 weeks, as wanted

I made the game in 2 weeks, as wanted. However, i made it too fast and wasn't having that much fun doing it, because i was pushing myself to make it in time and ignored certains features that i wanted to add...

When the teacher talked about the assignment, i waited till he finished talking, and showed him my game, finished. He was VERY surprised. My goal was achieved regarding him.

People had lots of fun with the mecanics. However, the gameplay was pretty boring. Because of that the game wasn't that fun anymore after more than 5-10 minutes.  They weren't saying it to me, but it was pretty obvious.

I stopped having fun with it after a while too.

...

I spent some time during classes, trying to make my game better, but i still didn't like it. I was trying too hard and forced myself to try to fix the game but it did nearly nothing.

I became pretty sad after that. Its just a game, but i always get this ending when i try to make one... It is my dream to make games, and it breaks me when this happens.

I stopped caring after a while and went to make more music and less programming.

Then, something happenned.

[Part 2 is less deppressing and has alot of images lol]
