I directed the group to where the old man usually was hoping he still had Jax's stupid cystal. We pull up next to a shop, we all get out while Jaramy has to stay and I lead them into the building. The old guy is at the front like usual, "Rodrik." I say smiling as he hobbled around the counter, "Ryley. Where you've been?"
He pretends not to notice the other two behind me, "Prison, but enought about me how's it been going?"
"Same ol'." I nod, "good". Turning back to Jax, "This is Jay... Jax, he's saying I stole a crystal from him and I think I brought it here. Jax, what did it look like?"
"Clear. Circular. Not very big though." He makes the aproxamate size with his fingers.
Rodrik taps his chin thinking about it. "I think you did, I vaguely remember it, but lemmy check. He wobbles back behind his desk and to a room in the back.
I look back at Jax smiling nerviously, but trying not to show my uneasiness. I hear something getting knocked over, the clanking of metal and other loud noises. The sounds finally stop and the door opens as the old man comes back setting a small wooden bowl in the desk. Stepping up closer to the desk I look into the bowl at about two or three handfulls of crystals, dimonds, jewels.
Jax comes up behind me looking into the bowl, "It's either one of these of or, if it's not there, was sold." Rodrik says.
Jax reaches around me, digging through the bowl. "It's not here." He says.
"Like I said... Sold, probably to some rich man and millions of miles away from here. But I can't do anything about that." Rodrik picks the tray back up and puts it under the desk.
Jax turns to me grabbing the collar of my shirt and pulling me closer to him, "you had better find my crystal."
"Hey, hey, hey." I pull his hand a little bit further away from my throat, "Rodrik. Wha-" I take a breath, "Who bought it, you should have a book with names and stuff, right?"
"Yeah," Rodrik says as he pulls out a large, old, rinkled book from under his desk. Opening the book to the last name and date, Jax lets go and pushes me back into his guys. He looks at the name looking irritated.
Closing the book he turns back toward me, stalking up close and getting into my face, "thanks to you Blane Varnon now has my crystal and do you know who's going to get it back for me?" I raised an eyebrow, as I point toward myself, "but first, who is Blane Vernon?"
"Oh, so there is someone you haven't managed to piss off."
"I didn't say that... I probably have pissed him off, but we just haven't formally met yet, which is probably a good thing."
He sighs, "Blane is a very rich man and as of now hates my guts and wants to kill me-"
"Don't we all?" But he ignores my silent comment. "He is also a collector, if it looks important he's sure to buy it and keep it hidden."
"So your telling me he has loads of money, priceless objects and I have to find a crystal in all of it?"
"Yeah and he lives on a ship at the docks near here. I don't know when he will leave, which is why tonight you are going to go get my crystal. Try not to get caught. And remember, I have your brother." He waves his hand and we all go back to the jeep, Jax's men drive me and Jaramy back home. When we get there he shoves me to the ground, as two men that had stayed at the house climb in the back of the jeep and they drive off.
Running into the house Aden is at the kitchen table a bruise on his face, "your going to help me." He looks at me confused, "I'm robbin' a rich guy."
