"Suit up!" Oliver launched the leather at my face. "We don't have all day, all hands on deck. Let's go!" He turns off his voice modulator as we leap down my residential two flights of beige-carpet.

The van doors slid open and slammed  shut in the span of a second. Out of breath, out of practice but content with a grin, I asked him, "What changed your mind?"

Oliver's face stiffened in the front seat, his head craned back, eyebrows lifted, fingertips at his temples framing his robust jaw. At last, he answered, although facing forward. "You'll be at the bunker, holding down the fort and preparing for our absence."

The inner corners of my brows curved up in confusion. "I assume with Felicity right? I'll be training with her?"

He turned around. "You will have to watch over Star City for a couple days. The team and I will be at Central City helping Barry control the dark matter contamination. I know you were begging for more responsibilities before I  asked you to leave. I guess I was not completely right in doing it. So, here's your chance to prove to me you deserve to have your suit in the glass case."

I returned his attempt of an apology with a thankful smile, paired with a confident nod. However, my thoughts told a different story. What if someone breaks in? I don't have enough training. I can barely work Excel, my suturing is nowhere near Felicity's level and I haven't sparred in weeks! I'm going to be the reason why they return to the bunker in ashes!

Ten minutes of painful silence filled the van until John utters the concerning words..."Uh-- guys, we have an issue."

My mind quickly darted to the worst possible outcome. However the result wasn't as cheery either.

"Oliver! The brakes aren't working..."

Just as I peered through Oliver and John's heads, a headlight punched my face and suddenly, THUD! THRASH! The van fell on its side. Metal scrapped the tar road and the screech of sparks dragged my eyelids shut.

Once the movements ceased and the sources of noise came only from my heavy breathing and nearby traffic, I unbuckled my seat-belt only to see the two of them in the front...unconscious.
