Not exactly a change

Hi,  sorry I've not posted for a while. I haven't been loyal right? Lols, I'm really sorry . I just felt like I should drop this this night. Enjoy!

I finish my chores at exactly six thirty am. I rush into the room to wake Olivia who was still asleep.

She was always the last person to wake up in the house just as she was the first to go to bed. I tap her again, already getting irritated. I didn't want to get flogged for arriving late to school again or have Mr Sam report me to Mother.

"you have to get ready for pre-school " I shook Olivia.

She turns to the other side of the bed, covering her eyes and squirming.

How does she sleep so well?

Mother said it was phase and all kids sleep a lot but Olivia's sleeping habits was becoming a trait.

I leave her when she does not bulge and dash into the bathroom to have a quick bath. By the time I come out, Mother had found a way to wake Olivia up from her slumber and she was now standing by the bed looking like someone stole her favorite toy.    "good morning Oli"  I hug her

"how was your night? " she retreats.

Her face tells me she wishs she could get some more sleep . I smile at her adorable pout.
"you could sleep more at pre-school " I say.

After all, all they do at the nursery school is sing rhymes, eat and sleep. Kids had no worries. Her face lighten up at the mention of 'sleep' and 'more' in the same sentence.

"now go have your bath" I order.

She scampers out of the room colliding with Mother, who is clearly surprised to see Olivia all happy already. She was always in a pissy mood in the morning.

"What did you say to her ?" Mother asks.

"nothing". It's  not necessarily a lie, I just didn't feel the need to explain myself and I am going to be late at this rate.
She frowns at me when she notices that I was still in my towel.

"dress up now"

I hurriedly grab my uniform, putting it on and then my sandals.
Mother keeps herself busy by folding the clothes on the mattress& spreading the bed.

"have you greeted your father this morning" she inquires.
I shrug "I'll greet him on my way to school

" I expect Mother to give me her lecture on the importance of good manners but she just nods and continue folding the clothes.

Where was the woman who knocked my head for not properly kneeling to greet father some weeks ago? Maybe she was too tired to talk this morning. I dress up, grab my backpack and move out of the room.

I mumble a good morning to Father seated at his usual spot in the sitting room, puffing while he smoke his cigarette.

He raises his hand to acknowledge me, giving me the normal look he gives me everytime I'm set to go to school every morning_indifference.
'goodbye sir' I mumble again. He probably didn't hear me the first time so I greet him again, with a louder voice this time.

"good bye sir"
His snarl startles me
"I heard you the first time "

His bloodshot eyes about to swallow me remind me of the picture of the red sea Pa.Ade passed around in Christian Religion class.

I quicken my steps.

I could hear him murmuring curse words loudly as I move out the house and turn into the junction leading to School.

Hope you enjoyed,

most of these chapters might look like fillers but they're actually very important scenes and aspects of keji's life and family. You see how she works hard every morning before school and the type of relationship she has with her family members (mom, sister and father) the strained relationship among the family in general. Well, it's normal in some families.

Plz look forward to the next update, read and vote and comment. Thanks

Love you lots 😍 😍
