5 - Potion

The next day 

I was with Kody this morning, "Hey Kody?" I asked. "Yeah (Y/n)?" he answers groggily, not being much of a morning person. "Are you going to make Lumine your friend? Because then we could all be friends!" (Y/n) purred happily. "No. I don't need any friends. I only need you." Kody states. "Buuut Kooodyy-" "No buts." Kody cuts her off.

Kody heads for the door, opening it and peeking outside. "Ah!" A voice shouts, it was Lumine. I hop off Kody's bed and make my way to the door to see what the commotion was about. "Um... G-good morning" Lumine says shyly. I look at Kody then at Lumine. 'Awww how cute! they are wearing matching outfits!' I think. Kody then turns goes back inside, "hehe your wearing matching outfits..." I snicker. "Shuddup," Kody says irritated. He then pulls a jacket from his wardrobe and goes back to the door opening it once again to reveal a surprised Lumine.

Kody then starts to walk down the corridor, (Y/n) hops into Kody's arms because she is too lazy to walk after him. He doesn't seem to mind. Lumine follows behind the two quietly. Kody then turns around. "Don't follow me." Kody states. "But..." Lumine tries to defend. "But your dad said to not let you out of my sight' Right? He won't know if you are with me or not. Go back to your room or bother someone else." Kody says as if he had read his mind 'Harshhhh' (Y/n) thinks.

Kody turns away from Lumine a walks vastly away from him. Lumine tries to stop him but has no luck. With (Y/n)'s amazing hearing she hears another person approach Lumine. "Someone has approached Lumine..." (Y/n) quietly whispers "...Now's your chance to hide"

Kody nods and goes up into the attic. "That was a bit harsh Kody, what if he actually wanted to be your friend?" (Y/n) purrs. "I only need you, (Y/n). I have told you this a million times..." Kody trails off, getting out a book. "Then let's make a bet!!" (Y/n) shouts triumphantly. "Cats can't make bets.." Kody says uninterested. "Say's who?? Anyway, my bet is that you will be friends with Kody!" (Y/n) purrs. "See this is why cats can't make bets...." He states. "Hey!!" (Y/n) argues.

 The next morning 

This time and Kody were in the basement. He was trying to make potions. 'You can do it Kody!' I silently cheered, hoping that this time it would work.

KABOOM!

Kody and I started coughing from the smoke. I heard footsteps come down and tried my best to keep quiet. Once the smoke cleared I could see Lumine there, looking with confusion and worry. "Ah! K-kody?!" He shouted, finally noticing us. "What are you and (Y/n) doing here?" Lumine asked. "No, what are you doing here?" Kody replies. "I heard an explosion and came to see what happened..." he said. Kody starts to pat the dust and smoke off him. "Learn to mind your own business." He says, then crouches down and starts to pat the smoke and dust of (Y/n).

"But...What did you do to cause an explosion?" Lumine curiously asks. Kody then releases (Y/n) and turns around, he bends downing the smoke and picks up a shiny purple crystal. Lumine curiously watches as Kody plops the stone into what seems to be water. The water bubbles in the potion-like tube. "W-what's that?" he asks. "Potion," Kody replies. "Potion?" Lumine tilts his head. Kody looked down at the potion. "It's supposed to cure back and shoulder pain...but I guess this one failed" (Y/n) drops her ears, sad that this one also didn't turn out right. She then walks over to him and nuzzles his legs in a comforting way. "Oh..." Lumine says as he starts to doze off. Kody then shoves the potion ins face. "Drink it," Kody demands.

Lumines dazed expression then goes into a worried and slightly scared expression. "Um...N-n-no thank you! Didn't you say it failed or something...?" Lumine puts his hands up in denial and also toward the potion away. "A-and I don't think have any back pain or anything s-so I'm fine!"

"What? are you scared? It won't kill you...probably" Kody said unsurely. 'Probably?!' (Y/n) thinks. "Then...If you drink this...I will accept you as my bodyguard." (Y/n) turns to stare at Kody in shock, and Lumine just freezes and picks up the potion from Kody's arms. Lumine stares at it, trembling. He then lifts the potion to his mouth and glugs it down, shocking both Kody and (Y/n). Lumine then faints and falls to the ground with a thud. "Woah..." (Y/n) mutters. "I can't believe he actually did it...did he want me to accept it that badly?" Kody mutters to himself. "So does that mean he's gonna be your new bodyguard Kody?!" (Y/n) asks as she waves her tail in excitement. "As if..." He utters. (Y/n)'s ears droop and she looks down sadly. Kody then crouches down next to Lumine's unconscious body and pulls out his cell phone, and makes a call.

"Dad? The new guy collapsed."
