One Step Forward

"I don't think I can do this Edward...natatakot ako..."

Edward secured Maymay's seatbelt and held her hands.

" You will be fine, am here, I will hold your hands for the entire flight."
" This will be an exciting experience for you, for both of us, ok trust me mag eenjoy ka sa pupuntahan natin. Sabi ni doktora at ng therapist mo a change of place may be good for you and most of all gusto ko talagang ikaw ang makasama ko sa special occassion na ito. I wanted you to see other places and meet my friends too."

"Ngayon lang ako sasakay ng eroplano Edward, kinakabahan talaga ako."

"Naalala mo ba yung nagpunta tayo sa Kiltepan? Sa Sagada? Naalala mo ba yung halos nakatapak tayo sa mga ulap?, makikita mo once na naka take off na itong eroplano baka sakaling may maalala ka..." and Maymay as usual would have that perplex look trying to remember the bits and pieces of her...and Edward as a usual will give her his usual gesture of gently caressing her on her hands and face...and consistenly reassure that they will get there eventually.

"Don't worry May, we will get there, never loose hope, you will remember me, remember us soon."

"Edward, why do have that so much faith? Ang tagal tagal na di ba? hindi ka ba napapagod sa akin? paano kung hindi mangyari yung inaasam ninyo para sa akin?

"Because you have faith in me as well, you waited one year to ask me three words, kamusta ka na? I believe na inintay mo talaga ako, there is more to us, and that is fate or some people call it destiny. And if don't remember me then we will build new memories, as long as we have each other, we will carry on."

When the plane took off, Maymay held Edward's hands too tight and closed her eyes, breathing heavily. But onced the plane was smoothly flying, she began to relax, she was seating at the window side of the plane and saw the clouds.  She turned to Edward and smiled. She was a actually enjoying the sights of clouds, clear skies..and in a second there was a flash, she saw an image in her mind, a blurry image of what seems to be a figure of a man and a woman facing each other, holding their hands on top of what seems to be a hill with clouds quietly moving at the background. Maymay jolted a bit and held her head.

"What's wrong May, are you ok, are you having a headache?" Edward reached for her mecidal kit and asked for a glass of water from the flight crew.

Maymay instead took her phone and immediately write in the note pad what she just experienced.

"Ahm ok lang ako Edward, hindi masakit ang ulo ko, thank you for the meds, but am really fine, it is just that...here read what I wrote, do you think it is relevant, may significance kaya yan sa akin?

Edward was very happy he had a big smile on his face, even his eyes were smiling.

" Wow, this is something May, so ano pa nakita mo?"

" hmm hindi ko makita kung sino sila, pero I have that feeling na masaya, good vibes, very light sa pakiramdam. Parang ganito everytime na magkasama tayo."

Edward looked at Maymay's eyes intently, almost wanting to kiss her on her lips.

"Ayan ka na naman sa nakakasunog mong titig, parang tagos sa kaluluwa."

"You know how much I love starring at you.and you should know by know how much I wanted to kiss you."

Maymay blushed and smiled at him. She turned her head back on the window side and took a view of the clear skies again and whispered "I wonder why it is taking you too long?"

"Are you saying something May?"

" Wala, am just admiring the view, and you are right I am actually enjoying this plane ride..and by the way Edward..."

Maymay gave him a sweet light kiss in his lips. She turned on her window side again and enjoyed the rest of the flight but still holding his hands, making her feel very secured.

Edward was on cloud nine figuratively. And took a gulped from the glass of water instead.

Edward and Maymay looked at each other and lightly chuckled. They can't fault the hotel manager. Who would not guess if they are not a couple... Edward was very attentive of her, he was holding her hand, making sure that she was fine, and Maymay letting him be. A stranger will easily think that they are newly weds infact.

The rooms were adjacent to each other , a door in the middle of their rooms. Edward would want to ensure that she will be safe, wanting to be near her everytime.

A hotel staff open the window shade on Maymay's room and she gasped when she saw the view from her room, there was a veranda, she walked slowly towards the veranda..she was now looking at a vast bluish ocean and with the bluest skies. A slight breeze touched her face. Without blinking an eye, she was just standing there, appreciating the view. Edward was looking at her a view much more beautiful than what she is looking at. Then she shrieked like a child.

" My God, Edward this is so beautiful!!!"

"I am glad you like this place."

"More than glad, I am happy, have we been here in the past?"

"No this is the first time."

Maymay took out her phone, took a lot of photos and scribbled notes. "Halika na, punta tayo dun!"

"Wait, let us have brunch first, am sure gutom ka na, plus yiu have to drink your meds."

"You know how lucky I am Mr Barber?"

"What do you mean May?"

"Well, you are Mr More than that.."

"Mr More than what?"

"A friend, a boyfriend, personal bodyguard, nurse, doctor, and many more"

"Hahaha, is that so? Well you have missed one important thing"

"Haha and that would be what Edward?

Edward cupped her face and told her "I love you more." Maymay closed her eyes, slightly lifted her face as if waiting for that kiss, Edward saw this and was really tempted but in his mind "We will get there, if you only knew, I wanted everything right" and kissed her gently on her forehead.

"Let's go down, I've got something prepared for you, have brunch and then we will have that walk on the beach."

"Oh you have a suprise for me, what is it!?"

"Something to help you remember us."
