When Emily woke up under her soft furs and warm covers she had no desire to get up. Her handmaiden, Cele, had received orders to bring Lady Emily to the main hall for her father. Emily felt the covers being yanked off the bed, and the cold air hit her skin causing her to groan.
"You should not groan m'lady," Cele instructed Emily. Any normal handmaiden would have been punished for talking to a high-born this way, but Cele was Emily's beloved friend.
"A lady also shouldn't know how to use a sword or shoot a bow, but look at me now", Emily replied sitting up with a small smile on her face. Cele just have her a scolding look.
"Lord Castor requires your presence downstairs, I believe it is important," Cele said while getting Emily dressed. "What could be so important this early in the morning," Emily said while Emily started to sit at her vanity. "M'lady it is the afternoon."
As soon as Emily heard those words she stopped Cele from brushing her hair, and ran towards the main hall. When she arrived her father was at the table in front of the main hall. Fort Castor's main hall was where all the feasts and meetings happened. Emily approached her father and said, " You required my presence father." Her father just gave her a grave look.
"I'm afraid we aren't safe here anymore, Emily," he explained to her as Emily's mother walked in.
"What do you mean father Fort Castor is safe, the Lannisters and their armies are on our side, they couldn't have already gotten pushed back," Emily said surely. A guard rushed to get father's side and whispered something in his ear. His face was astonished at what the messenger was saying. Lord Fred stood up out of his chair in haste.
"We must leave immediately; Emily, we have been pushed back, and we are at the line of battle,"her father said nervously. Her mother was just as surprised as Emily was.
"Fred we can't stay here then, if it isn't safe we must ride towards King's Landing before the Starks find us," her mother explained. Her father just looked at the table in front of him and said,"The traitor and his rebels already have, that is why you must leave quickly," her father said walking towards my mother holding her hand.
"Guards sattle two horses as quickly as you can...GO NOW!" He ordered as he let her mother's hand go. Emily followed her father who started leaving the main hall, she grabbed his forearm and yanked him around.
"Father what about the servants, we can't just leave them here to fend for themselves," she said begging her father to protect the Fort.
"We don't have enough time... not enough men, I only have 30 men to protect Fort Castor," he explained while walking outside to give orders to the guards. Emily pulled her father on the shoulder to get him to stop.
"I will help protect my home and my family, there is nothing left for me if my family was to die and my home to be invaded," she said with a deadly look in her eye.
"Your mother would never agree to this."
"I don't care." She said walking away to her chambers, where she came face to face with Cele. " What is happening?" She questioned Emily with a worried look on her face.
"Fort Castor isn't safe anymore, take the servants to somewhere safe... away from here, go wherever my mother goes, but I'm staying here and protecting Fort Castor," she said to her friend with tears in her eyes. Emily was afraid this was the last time she would see her. They embraced one last time.
"Go, you are running out of time," Emily said practically pushing her only friend out of her room, she closed to door and got changed.
She put on her leggings, her black leather boots, and her leather top with silver metal work on it that protected her abdominal. She brought her sword, Winter, out of her closet and strapped it on her waist belt. Then she heard the bells. That only meant one thing...an attack. She heard men yelling orders to protect Fort Castor and to get into their positions.
She ran out of her home and into the day, she saw servants running everywhere, and guards on top of the walls with bows some with swords at the gates. These men were fighting without hope. Emily was a realistic person, there was no way 30 men could withstand Robb's 300 soldiers.
Emily saw her father at the corner of her eye before she could run to him, the gates bursted open with Northerners. The direwolf sigil hanging from their banners. They were immediately swamped by their enemies, too many lives already lost. A man was screaming and charging her with such speed she almost didn't have time to react. She dodged his blow then cut his calves with Winter, the man fell in pain, and she gave him a clean stab to the heart.
"EMILY RUN!" She heard her father scream as she looked back she saw men tackle him to the ground.
She feared she was next and ran back to the horses stables, she took a black horse that was already saddled. She climbed up and pulled the reins. She knew the side gate would be open still so she lead her horse that way, but men saw her escape and soon the Young Wolf would be after her.
