Chapter 4
Prudence’s POV
I just stood there, processing Marvel’s words.
“Miss Fermantes, welcome to the team. You’re hired.”
Paulit-ulit sa utak ko yung sinabi niya.
“Miss Fermantes, welcome to the team. You’re hired.”
Oh. My. Gosh. Is this real?
“Miss Fermantes, welcome to the team. You’re hired.”
Tiningnan ko siya, he’s looking at me, he flashed a smile. He’s so good looking, but I don’t have time to melt.
This is real. It has to be real. Totoo? As if reading my thoughts, he answered my unspoken question.
“Yes, Miss Fermantes. You got the job.” He said, smiling. How does he do that?
I got the job?! I got the job! Thank you Lord! Thank you Phoebe! Tears start to well up my eyes.
Next thing I know, I’m crying…then…
Marvel hugs me.
“Oh no, don’t cry.” He said. He smells of cologne, and leather, and…Marvel. Oh, he smells mighty fine. His strong hands are on my back. Hinahaplos haplos niya pa yung buhok ko. Ang bango niya. Lord, thank you talaga! We stayed like that for a moment and suddenly, I feel so happy and relieved. I don’t know, maybe because I got the job, or maybe because this man is actually trying to make it up for what he did. He let go of me. Ine-enjoy ko pa lang eh.
Napatingin ako sa labas ng waiting room, tinitingnan pala kami ng ibang employees.
Nahiya naman ako bigla.
“Can I use the restroom?” I asked
“Yeah, sure. Go ahead. I’ll be right here.” He said.
I head for the restroom. Wow. How come it looks so dreamy? It’s like a royal restroom. Each cubicle has a plush seat covered in a velvety material. Walls are carefully hand-painted. The mirrors are in Victorian style. Each one is intricately carved with ULMTD. It is so different from the Manga Department’s which is completely ordinary. I know this, because I visit Phoebe sometimes. Sometimes to catch up, but mostly to annoy her. I am so staying here.
I stared at myself in the mirror. I’m so thankful I just wore light makeup. All that crying, ugh. My outfit, it looks ridiculous, all right. Do I really look like a traffic light? I take mental note to ask Marvel about the interview. Why the entire act? He was so intimidating…and polite…and caring…and…oh, he was such an asshole. Making fun of me like that, tingnan na lang natin. Hindi man lang nag-apologize. Well, not that it matters. I got the job, which is better than an apology. I even got a free hug from Sir Marvel! ^___^
I need to tell Bessy right away. I called her.
She picked up.
“Bessy! OMG. I got the job!” I said excitedly.
“Waaah! I knew you could do it!”
“Thank You. Ang daming ganap kanina.”
“OMG. You need to make kwento, but later na lang, may hinahabol kaming deadline. Okay?”
“Okay.”
“Meet me at the lobby for lunch.”
“Sure. Good luck Bessy!”
“To you too.” She hung up.
I looked at myself again. I adjusted my glasses before heading out to face Marvel.
