Chapter 5

Marvel’s POV

She’s late. It’s already 13:08. It’s her first day and she’s late for the afternoon. I hate late.

I called Michelle. She appeared by the door in exactly 3 seconds.

“Sir,”

“Michelle, can you please tell Miss Fermantes to go straight to my office when she arrives.”

“Yes, Sir. Certainly.” I dismissed her.

I’m losing my temper. Keep your patience Collins.

13:15. Finally, I saw her entered the room…but…why is she with her?

They walked across the room towards my office, she’s dragging Prudence. What the hell? She didn’t even stop to listen to what Michelle is saying. She entered my office alone, leaving Prudence just outside the office, she mouthed, Sorry.

She’s her usual self. Bright as ever…and loud.

“Collins!” she said

“Asahi, what can I do for you? Having problems in your department?” I said, jokingly. I smirked.

“Drop the polite act Collins. And my team and I are doing mighty fine.”

“I can guess that, because you seem to have enjoyed your time together with your friend, who also happens to be working for me. I must say, that was quite a surprise, such a smart-mouthed girl.” I said, looking through the glass where I see Prudence.

“Oh, please, it’s just her first day, go easy on her. And yes, we enjoyed our precious time together, just like what BEST friends do.” She said.

“You don’t tell me when to go easy on her, and besides, we both know how HARD my team works. Unlike your team, we follow very strict rules especially when it comes to time, which Miss Fermantes seem to have disobeyed. Therefore, she will be awaiting a punishment that I, her boss, see dim fit.” I said firmly.

“Don’t you dare or I swear…” She said strongly.

“Or what? Asahi, we both know how I work and you know I hate late. Tardiness is not something that must be overlooked and in our situation now, your BEST friend is at a disadvantage.” I said.

“Fine. Just don’t touch her, all right? Leave her be, today was my fault, don’t take it out on her.”

“Don’t take it out on her? We’re talking about work here, Asahi.” She glared at me. “Fine! What do I get in return?”

“Let’s make a deal.”

“A deal?” I said questioningly.

“Yes! A deal!” she snapped at me and rolled her eyes. She’s mad now, I bet.

“All right, tiger.” I said grinning. A deal…hmmm… “Buy 10 copies of UNLIMITED’s next issue.” I said.

“What?! That would cost thousands! And what do you want me to do with those?!” she said, surprised. I can’t hide the smile on my face.

“I don’t know; give it to your TEAM.” I suggested. She gives me her fierce look. This is so much fun. Oh Asahi, you never fail to amuse me.

“Gosh, you’re so cruel!” she said irritated.

“It’s your call, deal or no deal?” I said with a huge grin on my face. This day keeps getting better.

“Fine! Deal. You better keep your word, Collins.” She said.
