Ace smiles down at me, his icy blue eyes shine with interest. "So, Lilac," He trails off, his eyes darting to Carter who was watching him with a fiery glare, "got any plans for the night?" Ace asks, the smile on his lips even wider than before.
I glance at Carter, he stares at me, his eyebrows raised. I sigh, "Yeah, I do, sorry." I tell him softly and I watch as Carter's face relaxes.
Ace pouts and moves his chair closer to my desk, "I'm sure you could easily cancel them, right princess?" He asks, his fingers tapping on the back of my chair.
"Sorry snowflake, but she can't cancel, I'm more important than you." Carter says, a hostile smile pulling at his lips. Ace stares at him, his brows crossed.
I watch with wide eyes as the tension between the two alpha-males increases. Rocking back on my chair, I suddenly lurch forward, "What if we just settle this over a nice ice-cream guys?" I suggest with a panicked tone.
Carter growls and shakes his head while Ace just stares at him indignantly. I sigh and look back to the board, the increasing tension making me anxious.
When the bell rings I grab Carters hand and pull him none to gently through the crowded hallways. "Why did you have to be so mean to him?" I ask, throwing an annoyed look back at him.
Carter groans, exasperated, "I wasn't being mean, I could be mean to him if you'd like." He offers. Ignoring his comment, I continue to pull him through the school until we reach our spot.
Our spot was nothing special, it was just a bench under a willow tree, but the atmosphere was what made it a great place to eat. It was so calming and pretty when the sun shone through the willow tree's branches.
I let go of Carters hand and take a seat on the bench, the sun shines on my face and I relish in the warmth. He stands at the entrance of the willow tree a look of awe on his face as he stared at, me?
"What are you looking at?" I ask, tucking my hair behind my ear. He gulps and stumbles forward, "Uh, I just saw something really beautiful." He says, his ears turning pink.
My heart flutters in my chest, he didn't mean me, did he? I turn to look behind me and notice the cheerleading squad practising on the other side of the field.
Of course, I guess I was being silly.
Carter stares at me once more and his pink lips part ever so slightly, his onyx eyes bright, "Can I take a picture of you? My mom says I should make a photo album and you're my girl- uh best friend so, you kinda need to be in it." The words fly out of his mouth and he blushes again, the red staining his tan cheeks..
I giggle. "Of course, as long as I can take one of you as well." I say, a smile pulling at my lips.
He nods vigorously, "That's cool with me." With that he pulls out his iPhone and crouches, "Can you face the sun with your eyes shut, please?" He asks and I comply without speaking.
The sound of the camera going off makes me open my eyes and look back at him. My heart clenches at the sight of him, he was so beautiful.
I watch as he examines the photo with a smile.
"Your turn pretty boy." I say and Carter looks up. "You think I'm pretty?" He asks, his features bright and a beautiful smile pulling at his lips.
I blush and stand up quickly, "Well, uh, I mean, yes?" I say looking away from him. He chuckles and walks past me to take a seat on the bench.
"Any particular pose you want?" He questions and I nod. "Can you rest your head on your hand and look to the left?" I ask, squinting through the bright sun rays.
He nods and poses for me. I stare at his perfect features that were now emphasized by the sunlight and pull out my phone.
I drop to my knees and take the photo, my breath catching as he looks at the camera just as I take the photo.
"There, now let's eat. I'm starving." I say, shoving my phone into my jeans butt pocket. Carter laughs and pats the spot next to him and I gladly take a seat.
As I pull out a bag of carrots I watch as Carter pulls out a plastic bag of chocolate chip cookies. I look at him with puppy dog eyes and he slowly looks at me.
"May I please have a cookie, monkey?" I ask sweetly. He rubs his chin and pretends to think about it, "What do I gain from it, puddles?" He counters, as he shakes the bag of cookies in my face.
"A hug?" I offer and he smiles.
"Deal." He hands me a cookie and I bite into it hungrily, moaning loudly at the taste of the chocolate.
"It's so good!" I moan with a smile on my face.
Carter shifts slightly and coughs. I look at him confused as he places his bag on his lap. "It's nothing. I promise." He says his cheeks reddening again.
I swallow the remains of my cookie, "Whatever you say, weirdo."
"Isn't this cute?" A voice asks mockingly from the willows opening. Carter and I look up to see Ace and his pals standing there.
"What's cute?" I ask, cutting off what Carter was about to say. He looks at me, irritated, but doesn't say anything else.
Ace smirks, "You."
I blush and look away from him, laughing awkwardly, "Thanks." Carter rolls his eyes and stands up, "Come on, puddles, lets go to our next class." He says, holding his hand out for me to hold it.
I grasp it eagerly and stand up.
Carter walks up to Ace, his hand warm but voice cold as he says, "If you're smart you'll fuck off and leave her alone."
