After making sure Carter's hand wasn't hurt too bad we had to make our way to the principals office. Word had gotten around that Carter punched Ace.
Ace is seated across from Carter and I, his lip busted and nose bruised. "On the first day, Mr Black?" Our principal asks, his brown eyes crinkling as he squints to read the report made by the person who witnessed the fight and decided to snitch.
Carter runs his hand through his thick hair and sighs but before he could nod Ace groans. "Look here," he pauses to glance down at the name plate on the desk, "Mr Dover, I merely walked into a pole and Cameron here helped me to the nurses office."
"It's Carter." My best friend replies his eyes scanning the principals face.
Mr Dover looks to us inquisitively. "Is that true Miss Reynolds?" He asks, his dark eyes boring into mine.
I gulp and nod nervously, "Y-yes."
He stares at me for a moment longer before sighing, "Alright if what you said was true, you can go back to class."
Ace grins, wincing at the sharp pain, "Thanks man." With that he strides out, his hands shoved into his leather jacket pockets.
I turn to Carter confused, he sends me a silencing look, his head nodding towards the silently listening principal.
Carter smiles at Mr Dover and grabs my hand, lifting himself up and me in return. "Well, we'll be on our way sir."
Mr Dover narrows his eyes at Carter, "Don't follow this violent path, you know what happened to your father." He says and Carter freezes at the mention of his missing father.
His grip on my hand tightens ever so slightly but he doesn't comment on it, a tight lipped smile on his face.
I frown, "Sir, we're thankful for your concern but Carter isn't his father. Please refrain from making comparisons between them again." I smile curtly at him and pull Carter out of the room swiftly.
As we walked away from the office, I could sense Carters inner turmoil. Acting on instinct I stop walking and pull him in for a hug, my arms wrapping around him tightly.
He doesn't hesitate to wrap his arms around my small form, his chin resting on my head. "I'm sorry Lilac, but that still gets to me."
I squeeze him tighter, nuzzling my face in warm chest, "You don't need to apologise for that Carter, you have every right to be upset." I tell him, rubbing soothing circles on his back. He nods and sighs, relaxing further into my embrace.
"Wow, how cute." Ace quips, leaning on the locker his arms folded in front of him.
Carter chuckles, "What are you? Our stalker? Get a life snowflake."
Ace grins and steps off, walking towards us, "Oh yes, I'm obsessed with the pretty little angel in your arms." He says making Carter growl.
"Haven't you learnt your lesson, or do you want me to punch you again? Just to knock some sense into you." Carter offers pulling away from me, making sure I'm behind him, hidden from Ace's line of vision.
Deciding to cut the tension between the two of them I step in front of Carter and I ask, "Why did you lie to the principal?"
Ace blinks and bites his busted lip softly, cringing. "I may be an asshole but I'm not a snitch. You owe me, princess." He states his eyes gleaming.
Carter steps forward but I stick my hand out, stopping him. "What do I owe you?" I ask him, determined to get this over with.
He grins, his blue eyes darting to study Carters pissed off expression before he returns his gaze to mine, "I need you to kiss someone for me, doll."
Carter practically growls, "She won't do it!" His angry words only seem to excite Ace even more.
"She will or I'll have to find some other way for her to pay the debt." He says, tapping his chin, pretending to think.
"Why can't I pay the debt? This was between me and you." Carter spits.
I sigh, "Who do I have to kiss, Ace?"
I watch as his hand lifts and his finger points to Carter. What? He wanted me to kiss Carter? Turning to the window I look for someone he could've been pointing to but there was no one.
"Me? You want her to kiss me?" Carter asks in shock, his cheeks flushing ever so slightly. Ace nods, tilting his head like a confused dog, a sadistic grin on his face.
"What's wrong pretty boy, never kissed a girl before? Or maybe it's because you've never kissed princess over here, on the lips at least and you're scared." He chides.
Carters cheeks burn red and I stare at him in shock. Why was he reacting this way? Why was it so cute?
"I'm not scared! Lilac are you okay with this?" Carter asks his eyes scanning my expression.
I nod, I was excited to kiss him, I liked him so much now I had an excuse to kiss him."Then lets do this." He says and Ace chuckles. "Someone's excited."
Carter throws him a glare and moves closer to me, one of his hands wrapping around my waist, pulling me against his hard body. My heart thumps wildly as his other hand rests on my neck, his long fingers weaving through my hair.
I lick my lips and his eyes dart to my lips, his pupils dilating, his tongue darting out to lick his own lips.
Ever so slowly he leans in and I study his beautiful face before my gaze drifts to his lips, so plump and full, begging to be kissed.
When his lips touch mine, fireworks explode behind my eyes. The mere softness of his lips was fascinating, but they fit perfectly with mine.
His lips part and I mimic him, allowing him to slip his tongue into my mouth. I moan as he presses his tongue against mine languidly.
His arm around my waist tightens and his hand cradles my head as he kisses me softly, slowly but surely he pulls away.
I stare up at him in a daze, his eyes take in my expression with an adoration I've never seen in his eyes before.
Ace claps, laughing softly, "You guys are such idiots, both so blind to love. Have fun this evening." He says winking and walking away.
After making sure Ace was gone Carter rubs the back of his neck, "Are you okay?"
Blinking myself out of my daze I nod slowly, glancing at his handsome face sighing softly, how could someone be so perfect?
"So that was, different huh?" He asks me and I laugh. "Sorry if that was bad you know that I haven't kissed anyone before." I say sheepishly.
Carter smiles, "You were perfect."
I stare up at him and he stares down at me in return. Why'd everything feel so much different, it was just a kiss. I liked him, he didn't like me. I was just his best friend, right?
"We should get to class." I tell him and he nods and holds out of his hand. I stare at his outstretched hand for a moment before placing mine in it, threading my fingers through his.
"I have something really important to tell you tonight, Lilac." He says and my heart skips at the determined look on his face.
"Me too."
