The Day that Changed the World

Chapter 4 Survivors

"Oh, I'm a survivor. My whole life has been surviving."

"Why am I so hot, but yet my fingers are cold. Its hard to breath through my nose."  I couldn't tell if my mose was brokend or someone was holding it close. I could feel the beating of my heart vibrate through my body. Like a repeating waves moving along the beach, it felt relaxing, it felt normal. I felt my face form a smile and then a frown when the memories of what has happen flowed back.

I felt like nothing was there just a dark void, even when I open my eye I only saw darkness, no stars nor moon. I couldn't tell if I was inside or outside, but I knew one thing I was not alone. I could hear the snores of a few people. I slowly sat up looking around just barely seeing a small glow from where a fire was made. Leaving small silhouette of people sleeping, and but the look there was five.

I slowly got up and took a few steps, advoiding the things on the ground that I could see. I finally made my way to the street and kept advoiding things just in case the animals were near. I felt something behind me and I quickly turn and saw a women with what I thought was a blindfold on. "Please don't hurt me, I'll give you the money I have, Just don't hurt me." The fear was growing in me more and more.

"Child I'm not going to hurt you, we were taking care of you." She smiled with a motherly warmth.

"What happen, why was I passed out, why can't I remember anything." I felt a tear but I didn't know why.

"You don't remember because you used your powers for the first time. Everyone who used their powers first time pass out and don't remember what happen. Lucky for you, the group and I were passing by when you used them. Now what happen was you were and your friend..."

"Wait where is my friend!" My fear turned into worry but also saddness I and didn;t know why.

"He is fine, he is in there asleep, like I was until you woke me. But to what I was saying was you two were being chased by animals that were hungry. You fell to the ground and told him to keep running so he could live. He did as you said and kept running but once the animals caught up to you. You made a wall of fire setting them a blaze. You are bound with power of fire, so please come back and don't run we are going to protect you two." She gave her motherly warm smile again.

I just couldn't say no and I went with her, but my mind didn't even process what she said about bound with fire. We got back in the house where everyone slept, she rested her hand on my shoulder and whisper into my ear, "I will be awake for a while now we can chat if you want, but I suggest you get some sleep that does require you passing out. We both gave a quiet laugh, then I laid back down, and laied there was the women started to sing.

"We watch our hearts bring desires, but when it comes to life.

We do what we can to survivor. We let our mind wonder and create,

but with creation cause desruction and pain. Some say we are now survivors,

but really we been surviving our whole life." Her vocie was amazing, my eye lids began to tired my body began to relax. I thanked her for the song and fell asleep.

----- Four Hours Later-----

A loud horn noise rang through the city, but once it hit us both Brad and I jumped and woke us up. The rest of the group was already awake, and getting readying to travel again. "Where...are..you going?" I was wondering if they could understand me mumble and rubbing my nose.

They laughed and stared at us, "We are going to the broken catherdal. Its where alot of the survivors are. This group was assigned as a hunter squad but also told to bring back anyone we find unless hostile, but thanks to you fire wall we now have alot of food." Both Brad and I both gave a small nod and got up.

"Can we go with you guys?" We both gave a small puppy face. They only laughed and nodded yes. We walked for a hour or two and came upon the river that went through the middle of the city. The river did have some broken peices of cars and houses and one or two bodys.

We stopped and the two guys went and pulled the bodies out of the river and said rest in peace. The blind women came up and used her powers, she moved her hands in the air and pulled open two graves. They quickly buried the bodies and turned to the water and started undressing.

Both me and Brad looked in shock as they undressed until the were in their birthday suits. "What are you guys doing." They looked at us like we were the insane ones.

"We are taking a bath because seeing how everything is destoried there wont be any showers. So we as using what we can." They turned back to the river and jumped in, we just looked at each other and I blushed imaging Brad nude. Brad started to undress until he was in his underwear and jumped in so I did the same.

The river felt great, fresh water flowing around my body. It was taking away all the stress as the other began to play around. I just held on to a branch so i wouldn't drift down stream and closed my eye and let the water massage me. I didn't have a care in the world, well not until a peice of wood bumped my head and startel me.

After a while we got out and dressed and head off again. We encounter a few people which the blind women killed because they tired to rob us. Other than that our adventure to the Cathderal was boreding. We walked almost the day away, but once the moon disappeared behind trees we saw lights in the distance.

They began smilling when the lights could be seen and started to pick up speed. We came up on the broken building and a few people were outside with guns. The leader of the group held up a small piece of paper and the guards let us pass. We walked and see hundreds of people enjoying themselves and making markets and small sleeping areas. 

We survived and we will keep surviving.
