"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ALISHA!!!"
Alisha couldn't stop smiling as she blew the candles. Everyone cheered as she cut the cake and fed the first piece of it to the boy standing besides her.
The boy who had stolen her heart two years ago. The boy who she loved from afar. The boy who now shared the same feeling as hers. The boy who was her best friend first and now her love.
Arjun smiled at her lovingly as he fed her the next piece of cake. He was happy to be with her. Even though no one present there knew about their feelings, he was happy that he was the one standing besides her on her special day.
Alisha asked Aaniyah to handle the party as she excused herself along with Arjun. As they walked out of the club to a secluded place nearby, Arjun intertwined his hand with Alisha. She felt a smile form on her lips as they walked away together at a safer distance.
"Are you not going to say anything?" Arjun asked as they sat on a bench.
"Shouldn't you wish me first?" Alisha teased.
"Happy birthday" he said as he pressed his lips at the back of her palm.
"Thank you" she said smiling.
As Arjun gazed at her face, he realized just how happy she looked in that moment. Her eyes were beaming with joy and her lips hadn't once stopped from curving into a smile. She had been smiling since he had laid her eyes on her today. He could bet that her cheeks were hurting from smiling but she still smiled because she couldn't stop herself from doing so and he knew the reason behind it.
It was him. He was the reason why she was beaming and radiating with happiness.
He wished he had come to her sooner. He wished he could have realized his true feelings earlier so he could have saved her from all the hurt that he had caused her by dating Elena.
"What's wrong?" she asked as she touched his cheeks gently.
"I am sorry" he said, his voice filled with sadness and his eyes full of remorse .
"Hey, it's okay" she said softly "you're here now and that's all that matters"
He looked at her and wondered how she could forgive him and accept him so easily. How was he blessed with someone like her?
Did he really deserve her?
She hummed "Yes, you deserve my love. Even if it is what you refuse to believe, it is the truth and even you can't change it"
Arjun looked at her puzzled.
"How did you know what I was thinking?" he asked.
She laughed and pecked the tip of nose "You said that out loud so how would I not hear it?"
He chuckled realizing his mistake. As they laughed together, they both wished to stay in that moment and forget about their worries.
Once their laughter died, Arjun took Alisha's hand in his hand and looked into her eyes "I promise you, I will break up with Elena tomorrow"
