"You still haven't dressed up?" Aarav asked walking out of the bathroom.
"Did you see our daughters today?" Shreya asked turning around so she was facing Aarav.
He nodded "They seemed to get along well"
"Right!?" she exclaimed beaming.
"Were you worried they wouldn't?" he asked sitting down beside her.
"Slightly" she said "They have stayed apart since the accident. I was worried if Ellie would start having flashbacks and realize that a part of her memories have been erased"
"We can't keep them apart from each other forever, right?" Aarav asked.
Shreya nodded "I know. It's just that I am worried about them. Elena lost a part of her memories and for her well-being we moved back here. Alisha had to live without us for so long because of that"
"I know it was harder for you than me but we had to do it for Elena's safety. We don't know how they got into that accident or how she was the only survivor. We just did what we thought was best for her in that moment"
"You think that I don't know that? I already know everything, Aarav. I know that whatever might have happened was traumatic for her and hence her memories were erased but I always feel like to make my one child better, I abandoned the other" she said her voice cracking at the end.
"Look at me" he said cupping her face in his palms "You didn't abandon her"
"What if she feels I did?" she choked out; her eyes filled with sorrow.
"If there's anyone Alisha loves the most in this world, it's you. Her mother. She knows what you did was the need of the moment otherwise you would have never left behind" Aarav said as he embraced her in his arms and gently caressed her head while patting her back.
"What if she blames you for the decision?" Shreya mumbled in between her tears.
"What are you worried about, Shrey?" he asked her, his words soft and gentle yet filled with worried.
"You saw her today. Did she seem like she harbored any misunderstanding or bad feelings towards either of us? In fact, she was happy to finally be with us and her siblings. Alisha is a smart and mature kid, Shreya. There's nothing for you to be afraid of. She knows we would never do that to her or Elena and Kunal"
Shreya pulled away from his embrace and looked at her husband "That's what scares me the most, Aarav that she is so understanding. People who are most understanding are often taken for granted because we feel they will understand. They always do. We overburden them and then one day everything just –"
"Nothing will happen. I don't know why you are suddenly so worried but trust our kids and your upbringing. Neither Elena nor Alisha will blame and hurt us or each other. They may have had their share of misunderstandings before but all that is in the past now.
